Used JTV59 prices
C_note replied to Indianrock2020's topic in James Tyler Variax Guitars / Workbench HD
I just picked up a used 59 Tobacco Burst for $650 off Reverb in great condition might I add! but I know what the OP is talking about. I have been watching for a while and the prices have been on the upswing as listings have been sparse. -
69s: Improve sustain?
C_note replied to clay-man's topic in James Tyler Variax Guitars / Workbench HD
If sustain is dying in the upper register that sounds like a setup issue to me, tech the guitar with a new set of strings and see what happens. -
+1 one this it would be nice to see some nylon string sims!

JTVs must be in demand
C_note replied to Indianrock2020's topic in James Tyler Variax Guitars / Workbench HD
Well it's good to know that they are still making the JTV, not that the Yamaha model isn't any good it's just that the JTV line plays so well even for an inexpensively made guitar and having a selection of different bodies to choose from is a nice option. As to support as long as they are being made with the Yamaha line they will be supported, it's great tool to have in your arsenal and would be a bad move for line 6 to get rid of it especially with Helix integration which sounded pretty good. -
JTVs must be in demand

Is Line 6 even producing the JTV line any longer? I thought after they went to Yamaha that the JTV line would end. -
Hard Shell Guitar Case For A Jtv-59?
C_note replied to guitarno's topic in James Tyler Variax Guitars / Workbench HD
Les Paul style case + shipping which is probably around $40-50. -
Pretty sure the JTV comes without strap locks and just standard strap buttons, as to suggestions It really boils down to preference. Dunlop, Schaller, Hennessey etc. I prefer Dunlop as they have a larger button that can be used as a strap button in the event you have a different strap or forget the one with the locks on it. All have their merits and just like anything else that has a mechanical connection that system does require the occasional drop of machine oil to keep it from squeaking. I have been using them for as long as I can remember and have not had an issue. I have also tried the Schaller version and they work well also but I liked the larger button of the Dunlop better so I have stuck with them.

I had seen a post in reference to the E string slipping off the fretboard with the 69. It can be an issue for some it just depends on how much space they leave from string center to fret edge and of course your fretting hand. String spacing is standard on the Carvin @ 10mm's same with the 59. I looked at both the 59 and the Carvin and they are pretty much the same about 1.5mm from string center to fret wire edge. This is not an issue, for me it's more about the neck carve and the thickness from string top to the back of the neck. The 59's neck measures 24mm at the first fret to the top of the string and 25.5mm at the 12th. The Carvin measures 20.5mm and 23.5mm at the 12th. It doesn't seem like much but when you have been playing that neck profile for a few years and pick up something that is a few mm's larger in both directions you notice it a lot. I haven't got any interest as of yet I will probably let it go for a few more days and look at listing on evilbay or Reverb.

Hi all, New to the forum and just took position of a clean JTV 59. The neck carve is too fat for my liking so looking for any interest in a trade and thought I would look here first before it goes up for sale. I just bought a new battery for it and everything works perfectly. It does have light pick scratches and fret wear other than that it is ding, chip and dent free. I have all the accessories that come with the guitar. If anyone is interested let me know via PM. I will post Pics later this evening. EDIT for Pics, Also I'm looking for a 69 in Black if possible but any color will do and preferably in the same condition as this guitar... 100% working no issues, minor fret wear, light finish scratches.
