I guess that's why it should be options.
-
I guess I should have said return to the last mode. Maybe make it work the way the full Helix does? There is no useful reason for it to stay in preset mode once you select the preset... but yes, I suppose options would be the way to make this work best for more people. I'm glad your HX is working perfectly for you and you have no complaints but I think there are plenty of legitimate complaints on these forums and tweaking things so that they work better for more people is definitely a better option than just buying a new device.

Yeah, I can't see any way to do it either. It's crazy that this isn't the default behavior as opposed to selecting the preset and then just sitting in preset mode as if you might want to select another one. Thanks for the other replies but these aren't what I'm interested in here... I just wanted to auto return to stomp mode after selecting a preset.
-
I need to automatically switch back to stomp mode after selecting a preset (in preset mode) instead of having to use a switch to manually return to stomp mode. I'm on an HX Stomp, and looking through the global settings I'm not seeing anything that seems to apply. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

Looking at that guy's screenshots, I'm not really sure what glitches he is talking about, and I haven't noticed anything, so I'm going to assume I can forget about it. Thanks for the link. *edit* I guess the missing "o" in "solo" for soldano? Would it have killed them to just make the patch notes "fixed mis-spelling in solo", or something like that? I was looking all over at my HX Edit for some kind of graphic glitches I might have missed. Anyway, thanks again.

Can anyone tell me what the "graphic updates" that were mentioned in the patch notes were for the 3.82 update? Thanks.

They don't even have to sell future products... and if people realize they have stopped sending decent updates for their existing products, they may consider this when it comes to their next purchase of expensive guitar gear. These things are a big purchase for a lot of people and many do have an expectation of ongoing updates, especially in this "broken when sold, fixed over time" culture we are living in. The attitude that companies don't owe us anything is not productive, at all, for consumers.

Absolutely... it gets so annoying when you are flipping through a few cabs to test them in a preset and you have to keep re-entering parameters over and over.

Yeah, this just happened again last night. I deleted the existing distortion block just to be safe. Then, pasted in the distortion block I wanted and it raised the existing delay feedback setting to 100 (obviously, not the default value, so we can rule that out) and started making weird noise due to the extreme parameter. I have no idea what Ideascale is, but I will check into it. Thanks again for the help.
-
Right... I should have been more clear on that. This is possibly pasting over an existing block but seemingly affecting a parameter in other existing blocks. Those blocks were probably in a snapshot, because I use snapshots a lot, but what it changes seems to be totally random and unrelated. For instance, I paste in a distortion block and it raises delay feedback in another block to 100 causing droning noises until I tracked it down. If it is in a snapshot, it should only be preserving/affecting parameters on the single block I am pasting in, in my opinion.
-
I had noticed some strange noise occasionally in my presets and found that various parameters had been cranked up to 100. I'm not 100% sure but I think this was caused by copy/pasting in a block (not the one with the changed parameters) from one preset to another. So, moving in a block somehow caused parameters on other blocks to be raised to 100. This has happened multiple times and the copy/paste is the only thing I can think of that they had in common. Has anyone else noticed this? Is this a known issue? Thanks for the help.

Sorry for the delay, and thanks for the replies. This gives me something to go on. I found that I can copy a preset and get the pop going back and forth between the same preset, so it isn't a volume difference issue. I'm looking into how to correct any gain staging issues I might have. Also, not using Kinky Boost for anything, but I will keep an eye out for any pedals that might be an issue. Thanks again for the help.

I'm often getting loud pops when switching presets. Anyone else get this problem and have a fix for it? I don't want to have this sound when I'm playing with other people. Thanks for the help.

Sorry for the delayed reply, but thanks for all the answers, guys... I had a vague idea of what these were doing, but this will really help me get it dialed in. Thanks again.

On an amp with two drive settings (cali texas 2 is the one I'm looking at), what is the difference between the two drives? Thanks for the help.
-
Thanks again... I've been playing around with those global settings this morning, but I'm finding that it seems like most of the culprit is settings on my physical Morning Glory drive, which is in that loop. It has a recessed Hi Cut switch on the side of the pedal, which I usually leave off, but looks like it may not be "clicking in" properly. I had to play with that a bit to to get it set. I'm not sure if I have everything straightened out, but it's a lot better now. Thanks.
-
Ok, thanks... so should I be setting my mix parameter at a certain setting to get a "normal" sound from the loop when it is in the direct path? I want the pedals in the loop to sound like they normally would in a pedal chain, which is not what I'm getting if they are in the direct path.
-
I have a couple drive pedals in my FX Loop R (HX STomp) and I'm noticing that this loop (running it as the only block to test this) sounds low volume/muffled sound unless I place the FX Loop block in a separate parallel path, in which case it sounds bright and normal volume. What causes this need to be placed in a separate path to make it sound like it normally should (The difference is immediately noticeable)? Thanks for the help.

Perfect... thank you.

Just curious if there is a way, on the HX Stomp, to reset a snapshot that has been named to it's default number and camera icon?
-
I believe I had FS4 and 5 set to scroll presets, so assumed that might be how it was set up by default. So, I set the buttons to 52 and 53 in the editor on the utility X page and now it controls FS4 and 5 and then I changed those to bank up and down in the HX and it's working. I have bank up and down buttons. Thanks for the help. For the number values, is there a good resource, other than Disaster Area's HX recipes page and the HX manual, to find what numbers to enter for various functions, or do those represent all the possibilities?
-
Ok, thanks for that... so, by default is the DMC.Micro emulating the FS4 and FS5?
-
Hey guys... just picked up a DMC.Micro Pro to add some buttons on to my HX Stomp. I'm a beginner to Midi and still a bit overwhelmed after looking through the manual. The pedal is set so that it scrolls through my presets out of the box, but my goal is to set it up, at a minimum to scroll through banks instead, and maybe use the hold function to switch between snapshots and stomp. I'm going to be using the web editor. Will this be something I can do using the utility modes in the pedal? Any help setting this up is appreciated. Thanks.

Thoughts/recommendations: Alway-on pedal in front of Helix for "feel"
Drybonz replied to benriddell's topic in Helix
I don't know about whether it makes it a better playing experience in any way, but I do keep a JHS morning glory in front of my HX Stomp on my pedal board. I like the overdrive sound of that pedal and it can be kind of a boost with its two drive channels. If you have a pedal you like (or want) that isn't represented in the Helix, you should go for it... but I definitely wouldn't buy a pedal just to have one there. -
Thanks for the advice. Those are the amps I will be using so I want to see what the final sound will be through them.
