Looks like the 5 week delay of units reaching Australia may prove to be quite fortuitous. By that time all the 1.0 (or in this case 1.0.1.2) kinks will hopefully be rectified.

I'm the test lead for multiple projects. The fix list after launch is always the most awkward for me.

"Amp in the room" is by far the stupidest bechmark/concept I have heard of. After years of playing on stage and seeing live gigs, all I've heard is a mic'd amp. Every CD, MP3, and record I own is a mic'd amp. Holding a pro piece of gear up to how much it resembles your bedroom rig is just stupid.

It is already the 22nd in Australia and I can confirm it hasn't shipped yet. Now back to the future I go!

Just wait until they abolish the GST free threshold. Hopefully Helix us a winner as my days of easily buying new gear are numbered it seems.

Not sure if tjontheroad is on this forum however he just posted his impressions from using Helix at a Pedal expo. "The first thing I asked to do was to shut off all the FX and listen to the amp models by themselves. Every amp had great feel, wide dynamic response, and clearly a pro level representation of the real thing. The Helix ain't no POD I ever heard. Then, when you get the FX back in the mix, Helix sounds pretty amazing." Now take that with the grain of salt that you probably will, but at least you now have a first hand account that they aren't hiding anything :D

I only hope that the Aus distributor doesn't get less numbers due to US ordering. It will probably be fine but all these recent pre-orders are getting me slightly nervous.

Also the AX8 has not even had an indicative release date nor price announced. Plus the waiting list already sounds like it's going to be huge. Also I doubt an Australian distributor will have any for a while so you'd have to factor private importation costs in to it. On topic, I've bought and paid for my Helix with KC's in Boronia. No idea how many they are getting vs how many were pre-ordered though.

I thought the guitarguitar video had quite a few of the amps without too many other effects. Maybe my memory is a bit different.
