I purchased my first MOTU used on eBay for a reasonable price and it lasted for years. I think with the higher end interfaces you’re getting better preamps and AD hardware.

I’ve had great luck with MOTU and RME interfaces. Not sure if you’re limited to FireWire, but I know older versions of these products fully supported FireWire.

You might want to consider adding a simple midi footswitch, like the Tech21 MIDI Mouse for switching between presets.

I’ve had mine for a few weeks now and really like it as is. I’ve built a pedal board around it now....MidiMouse, Strymon BigSky, nano POG, and Mission Engineering pedal. The Helix editor is awesome and I can build quality patches easily and quickly on it.

I've always had good luck with MOTU hardware as well as RME ( my current audio interface). Whatever you decide to get, just check out what's being used for AD conversion on it first.
