  1. Im back again. Trying again to use my Helix before I thow the towel in but tieing myself in knots of frustration and confusion. I have watched all the recommend videos pausing replaying them etc but I still cant get my head around creating an saving presets as I think I want them which is as follows for a live set up where I will DI into PA. I am trying to achieve a set following for a basic preset as per attached but I cant seem to manage saving the presets as different preset names and/or snapshots without changing something else I didnt want to change I aiming to have as follows: FS2 = Distortion FS3 = Delay FS4 = Chorus FS5 = Reverb FS8 = Clean FS9 = Crunch FS10 = Rhythm FS11 = Solo Can anyone advise in as idiot proof language as possible please, believe whatever you think of as dumbing down go further downwards..... Thanks
  2. Hi All So I have been struggling with the Helix Floor understanding how to use it and concluded its too complex and large for my needs as someone who is going to be gigging direct into PA with no backline in a covers band. I have experimented with a Boss ME90 as I like the ability to actual control knobs and the Edit software feels more easy to use. I have just seen that POD GOs appear good price on the SH market and wondering what people think about it in terms of how it sounds. I fully understand has less flexibility that Helix, less routing options but I think all of those options are above my level anyway. Does anyone have experiences of the Wireless version also, is there any reduced quality level of the wireless signal for the inbuilt version compared to what I already have which is the external Relay G10s? Thanks
  3. appreciate all the comments guys but I am still struggling. its doesnt matter which user guide, manual, video I go to they all refer to a specific process or step and then I go "what does that mean" and loose it. I think my days are done with Helix.
  4. thanks for this, the videos are good but they still go too fast for me lol. I will persevere
  5. Hi All I need help please. I've had over last 15 years POD XT Live, HD500 but not played for 10 years. Just acquired a Helix but really struggling with understanding basics. My brain is fried with IRs, Snapshots etc etc. I am 58 and trying to start playing again amp free to save lugging cabs about etc and going DI into PA. Cover band music so mix of clean, rhythm, lead with certain effects for specific songs So far I have managed to download from a guy i saw on you tube some patches for clean, rhythm and lead which are ok but now i want to try and adapt some to create my own and despite looking at L6 and other you tube guides its all too fast for me Can anyone direct me to really slow dumb level guides please PS another question - can I use a standard powered wedge monitor for my helix sounds and vocal monitor ? Thanks
  6. anyone know in UK where to get this cable from please that connects sonic port to ipad? the one i have has worn out! its has the new ipad air connection one end and what looks like a smaller USB connection at the other end into sonic port, photos attached thanks
  7. Does anyone know where in UK I can buy a replacement sonic port cable please? Thanks
  8. Hi Trying to help a friend here I use an Hd500 and connect to a Marshall JVM using 4CM. I can choose if I want to here the Marshall pre amp with POD effects or remove the Marshall pre amp and use POD preamps easily and we all know that works. He is a bassist and has the Bass HD Pro rack unit and is looking to connect in same way so he can use his bass amp preamp and add effects. He doesn't think this is possible but I think it shouldn't be as I assume that in he main the connections and routing options would be same for guitar or bass. Any ideas please gents? Thanks
  9. Thanks guys, that's basically what I thought so i I will stay as I am. Thanks for advice
  10. Been offered a 500x as part of a trade on guitar. I have had a 500 for 4 years and all set up well with my Marshall JVM. I use it for channel switching and effects. I also use some modelling. My question is does the X offer that much more to make it worth changing as I understand I can't simply migrate my tones over from old to new. I know the X has more memory and some pretty lights around the foots witches but can anyone think of a reason to need to change as I don't use anywhere near the memory capacity of what I have really. Thanks
  11. Hi Looking for a bit of advice or some tips on my query please. I use and HD500 connected via 4CM to a Marshall JVM 215c combo. The majority of my gig requirements are for electric guitar and this works fine for me. I then DI from amp to desk For several acoustic songs I plug direct into the Aux input on the HD500 and use some delay and chorus. The positive of this set up is its easy and only requires one channel on the desk. The negative is that I here the acoustic via the Marshall amp behind me which sounds crap as you would expect. I am trying to work out a way I could still use the effects of the HD for acoustic but cut out the sound from Marshall and use monitor only for acoustic. Any ideas welcome Thanks
  12. I have a hd500 into power engine and great for electric guitar for gigs or theatre work, no good for acoustics though
  13. Thanks Nick I have kind of already gone down same route with that download on previous amp /HD combos, was kind of looking more for people with JVM /HD experience and actual tried and tested level settings thanks
  14. Hi Before I start the quest to try and find the right settings to connect my HD500 and JVM215c I wondered if anyone out there already uses this set up. Having previously never been totally happy with DSL50 and HD500 sound together I am going to try again. I use the 4 cable method so I can make use of the amps tone and use the pods effects. I am totally familiar with the basic set up so am not asking for what cable goes in which input etc and have previously downloaded a good set up guide by someone from this forum, so it's more actual practical settings with the two pieces of hardware I am after, ie levels on amp/mix, the 4db or 10db option and then on the HD effect loop levels of send/return/mix Thanks
  15. Can someone tell me if they think it's fair that sonic port VX is brought out 3 weeks after I get a sonic port. If I had known I would have waited and spend the extra money on a VX. This is bloody annoying
  16. Hi all It occurs all the time basically. Any rehearsal or gig location With atleast 3 guitars I have tried Changed all leads I have tried to eliminate obvious issues like loose connections in a guitar, crap leads etc
  17. Bit cheesed off unless I can sort this, can I run sonic port and mobile POD in iPad with spotify so I can jam to music? I can with amplitude and spotify, just connected it all up and then can't gp hear music? Any ideas please Thanks
  18. Hi all I have battled with my HD 500 for a few years, I have posted on here previously, watched you tube videos trying to set up etc and still have issues with a Hum I can't get shot of whatever I try. I have tried 4 cable method with a. Marshall DSL50, Tech 21 Trademark 10 watt amp and now use a Blackstar HD 60 stage. Also gone direct into a Thomann T box pro active monitor. I get a hum whatever setting I use even with NO amp on the HD500 and no effects ie guitar into HD500 and out into monitor. I have played with the inputs, outputs, ground lift, pad, line, stomp settings and no change. I have changed cables and it happens in all locations so I do not believe it to be an earthing isssue, also changed power supply. Any ideas or do they all do it? Thanks
  19. I use amplitude doe iPad and a Tascam IX 35 I think as interface, wondered if peeps here think worth getting sonic por? I have downloaded Mobil pod app today and looks quite good. Been using XTlive and now HD500 live for 9 years so well familiar with Line 6 etc Thanks
