Ahh man thank you very much. You are awesome.

Ok thanks you very much. Guess i need an extra pedal or get a lil creative.

Hello, is there a way to configure a footswitch to fade in/out certain parameters ? Same question for snapshots. For example I want an EQ in my effects chain that acts as a low pass filter. But i want this effect to fade in/out in a specific behavior and not to abruptly turn on/off by just bypassing it. In my case the expression EXP1 is used as volume Pedal the EXP2 as Wah. Or is it possible to use the exp Pedal in a third mode as long as a specific effects block is not bypassed ? Is that possible ? Tanks again.

Hello guys, I wonder if there is a way to setup my presets in a way so that if I switch from one snapshot to another that certain effectsblock DON'T change their current state. An example. I have a preset with lets say two snapshots. the snapshots turn on/off a delay. In the same preset I have a chorus which isn't triggered via snapshot. I just turn the chorus on/off on demand. Now when I'm on snapshot 1 i turn on the chorus then i might need a bit more delay. So i wanna switch to snapshot 2. At this point the snapshot 2 turns off my chorus because its not part of the snapshot 2. Is there a way to tell snapshot 2 to leave my chorus at whatever state it is at this point ? I know this might be a bit of a contradiction but i will only trigger few settings with my snapshots. And don't want to turn off everything i might previously have activated. Tanks guys.

The midi approach is a neat lil hack but as you said its not really guaranteed to work properly. It would be alot more convenient if we could bind snapshots to any footswitch desired. @Verne-Bunsen That is basically what i want as a comming feature. Upvoted !

You are absolutly right. I guess i have to decide what way is the more appropriate for me. I like the more powerfull sound of amps especially loud driven 12" speaker. But I play most of the time at home and that kind of setup would lead to alot of trouble i think. So I will take into consideration to upgrade my Studio setup with 2 additional monitors for a much greater sound base.

Hello I find it currently pretty inconvenient to globally activate snapshots to at least a full row of footswitches. That way i lose 2 footswitches when i have only 2 snapshots. I dont want to have for example my upper footswitch row always on snapshot mode. As far as i know i can toggle that but i dont want to have to toggle the footswitch mode all the time. All i need is a way to assign a snapshot or two to dedicated footswitches like I can assign an effects block to a footswitch. I dont even want the snapshot symbol in the scribble strip but i think that is currently unavoidable. Is there a way ? Tanks for help.

I currently run my Helix into my computer or lets say into my Focusrite Scarlett Audio Interface and pass the signal right to a pair or Prodipe active Studio Monitors. They Sound great but they have small speaker membrane so they don't move to much air therefor i think they sound a bit thin. I want the Helix sound a bit more powerful and wider especially in the base and mid frequencies. But the problem is that i can't run them on to high volume levels because of my neighbors. Do i get this with lets say 10" speaker ? Or would you recommend taller diameters ? Has anyone here ever compared to mono to a stereo setup ? Would you even recommend running two smaller monitors in stereo over a taller one in mono ? I'm not sure which way to go

Thanks mate the Alto TS2 Series seem to be pretty good. I will take a closer look at their different versions. Guess i have to spend a lil more to get a good sounding monitor.

Hey guys, I'm thinking about getting myself a frfr monitor for my Helix but I wont like to spend too much money on it. I have no experience with these kind ob speakers. What wattage would you recommend for Home use? I use my Helix basically in home recording only. What speaker diameter should i go for ? I like a thick sound wall like i get from a valve amp and such. So maybe at least 10" to 12" i guess ? would you recomment going for cheap monitors for around 130€ or so. Or is there any difference in tone quality compared to monitors at around 250€ ? Tanks guys...

Yep I tried to play with the freq. parameters but all in all its not very pleasant what you get from that. The Wah all sound pretty classic and i need a way more modern sounding and more aggressive Wah. So i'd like to see something like that in a future update. I already did such a request in ideascale.

Hello Guys, im pretty happy with my Helix by now but there are various things that still disappoint. For example the Wah effects. There are various Wah effect blocks but they all sound pretty weak and dont even differ very much from each other. Do you have some tips on how to improve the sound of the Wah effect blocks. I mean yeah they do there job but it still isn't the best Wah effect. I would appreciate a Wah effect block that works like the Dunlop Rack wah where you can customize the frequencies and stuff.

I dont own the mimiq so i have no comparison just telling from reviews that the sound it produces seems way more realistic. I had alot of phase issues as well. My monitors as max. 1 m away from each other dont know if that might cause problems too. Maybe i need to put more time to find a setting that may do the job but i still think that this kind of effect needs a bit more mojo then just splitting one signal into two different patchs. It seem to change the original signal slightly.
-
I tried your suggested approaches and i got the idea behind them but to me those sound way to digital and i guess TC put alot of afford into the Mimiq so it won't be so easy to simulate that effect. I guess the helix needs specific algorithms for that kind of task. I think i will put that request on the line6 ideascale. edit: NVM that one already exist. Thanks anyways guys you guys are pretty helpful.

Dual Amp would be nice but i have already a pretty packed preset with all the modulation and dual Cabs etc. So I'm already running out of DSP and free slots to do a even more complex setup. I'm looking for a compact solution to the problem. And as far as i know dual Amp cost a lot of DSP. I guess i will start with the pitch shift approach. If that fails i might try your delay - dual amp setting. That would give me the best result but i guess i would run out of DSP to quick.
-
thanks ma man ;) i will definitely give that idea a try. Other approaches are welcome as well.

Hello folks, is there a way to get a doubler effect done with the Helix ? Like the TC Mimiq Doubler. In some scenarios i wish for the big and rich tone from my single guitar. Like when two guitars play the same riff. Is it currently possible to achive that ? Thanks guys.

I tend to play Ambient/Metal hybrid kinda music. Like Devin Townsend the John Petrucci sound is what i idolize so im lookin for big sound stages. Lots of effects hand in hand witch powerful mid crunch and high gain lead drives. So far i think the Helix is the only system that can provide all in need. The Kemper isn't a usefull tool for that purpose and the AX8 isn't as versatile as the Helix. I think if the Helix doesn't provide me everything i need no other system will. And im already getting used to the mic'ed typ of sound and i start to like it.

Hey guys 'n girls, so yesterday after work i came home with full motivation to get the Helix where I wanted it to be. So i sat down hook it with my Studio monitors and started from scratch. After one hour i had a pretty good base and started experimenting with different amp models. A hour or two later i already had a really pleasant sounding preset. I switched back to the factory presets and was shocked how thin and weak they sounded. This is not about ranting about the factory presets but after switching back to my own preset I know why i was disappointed in the first place now I have a pretty good idea what this system is capable of. I didn't even worked on my preset for a couple of hours because I was just playing with it and it was so much fun. Compared to my old half digital half analog rig this sounds SO MUCH BETTER and defined its awesome. The Helix is indeed a pretty good sounding system once you get it where you want it to be. And I already tried IRs and have to say that my current preset is still using the Helix cabs. IRs may sound a bit more realistic while the build in cabs still sound pretty pleasing once dialed in. I'm sure that once I fully grasp the system capabilities I'm able to recreate the sounds I love. I have a valve amp in my room but thats an old buddy with a messed up volume pot. So the amp can only be loud af or even louder. So far i have good hopes.

Hello guys thanks for your productive comments on this. I guess my biggest problem so far was that i didn't quite understand the philosophy behind helix. Helix is more the perfect representation of a clinical environment. While i was expecting a real life representation. Helix is more the studio approach while i want more the backyard sound style ;) I'm now at the point where i understand that i have to put a lot more afford into this then i was expecting. Its not my sound setup that leads to my frustration. I'm using Prodipe Pro 8 aktive studio monitors. Which may not be the best but they do their job. And i also tried my Beyerdynamic dt 990 pro headphones direct into the system. Both sound thin but thats not necessarily a bad thing because thats whats needed for recording. I was expecting this as you said "amp in the room feel" and there the frustration began. I started building my own presets and got good results but i understand that i have no idea what I'm doing. First I need to learn how the signal chain works and where i need to put each component to get a decent result. Then I have to put a lot of work into tweaking the sound characteristic. And I need to get creative to get this realistic life environment sound scenario. What I want is this dirty, grungy and absolutely not clinical sound and that will require some work to achieve. In the next few day i will sit on my lollipop and try to understand the signal chain and work hard to get some sounds I am looking for and I'm excited of what i can achieve with the system. So thank you guys for not bashing me for talking bad about your favorite toy ^^

Well i guess in my living room i can't move to much air because this would lead to other problems ^^ And this may be one issue that the system might lose some authenticity in such environmet. I'm currently viewing some tone sculpting tutorials and it is indeed alot of work to get the tone i seek. So i will just need some patience and i guess i will learn to love the system.

@Steevo You have a bad day or anything ? I dont know why the pointless hate comment at the end but ok i will take that one if you feel better now. First of all i see you point here and i have to admit that i didn't take that into consideration and it sound pausible to me. So that is in fact a point for you and im sure that is nothing i can't get used to. Second im not a fan boy that tries to troll someone. I don't even know where you get an idea like that. If I were a troll why the heck would i spend that amount of money only to come here and tell you the system is lollipop. I didn't even said anything like that. Only thing i said is that im disappointed in the lack of realism and diversity in the effect section. But that may be because i'm not even used to get the full potential out of the system yet. So yeah i guess i have to do alot of sound sculpting with this system to get the sound im searching for. And im willing to learn how to get to that point. Believe me im serious about the Helix why would i waste Money and Time if i wasn't. So yeah cheers and i dont wish you anything bad like u did ;) I'm pretty curious what you wrote at the first attempt ^^

@jbuhajla That was the biggest shocker as i was going throu the factory presets. I still rember the factory presets from my old system those suck pretty bad. I thought that the Helix would come with some realy good presets as some review said that they were good. That was the most disappointing thing i noticed right out of the box. But i emidiatly started to sculpt my own preset and could get a way better sound that way. It is a subjective topic anyways so im now i have to spend time on getting my sound that i want.

You are right. My theatre isn't neutral at all. That was just a try to get the most wide tone with the first few hours of trying. The normal use case für me is to use the Helix on my PC interface to my studio monitors. That is pretty neutral. What i experienced too was that i had to crank the output volume to at least 70-80% on the Helix in order to get any tone to my monitors. Is that normal below 60% i couldn't hear almost nothing.

I have the same hope. One big selling point was the fact that i can use IRs on the system. With them i definitly should get rid of the digital sound. And all in all i guess i have to get into the process of defining my own sound via EQ and specific AMP settings ect.
