Ok, thanks, got it. 'FBV control' is for using the FBV3 as a midi controller on 3rd party PC/Mac software. No use to me as a Spider owner. I'm on 1.02 on the FBV3 and 1.04 build 121 on the Spider V 240. With the FBV3 I can scroll up to 32, but not beyond. I doesn't go back to 1. Same thing with the knob on the Spider V. The function switch for Looper control is in the totally the wrong position. You have to balance on one foot and try to tap at the right time to get the timing right. Very awkward. Andy

Bill's been around for a long time! (I saw Bebop deluxe in Toronto in 77) He used to use a lot of E-bow. Any specific song your thinking of? Andy

Maybe I'm missing something. I hook up my FBV3 to my computer and run 'Line6 FBV Control'. changes I make on the screen are reflected immediately, on the pedal, which is fine. When I disconnect the USB and hook the FBV3 up to my Spider V 240, the settings revert back to original. Is there a 'save to device' setting I'm missing? Specifically, I want to switch the locations of the 'function' and 'tap tempo' buttons, and possibly find a way to make the bank up/down scroll back to 1 after I hit bank 32. Andy

I recently purchased a Spider V240 and FBV3 foot controller. The FBV3 became bricked when I tried to run the updater on it. Tech support help was limited to 'return the unit' Ther was no engagement to help solve the actual problem, which I eventually did by myself. I'm new to line 6 and despite some difficulties, I'm happy with the gear. Have others found tech support to be of much help? Andy

Spider V240, FBV3 GT10 the good the bad and the ugly...
oldmanrockband replied to oldmanrockband's topic in Spider V
Yeah thanks, cirv908. The list doesn't shine much light on the actual effects settings, but a quick google on any of them will probably reveal what they do and how they work. Fixed tempo drum loops are pretty useless, recorded or not. btw the technology for speeding up and slowing down recordings without pitch change is well established. Having no PC/Mac editor is unforgivable IMHO -
Line6 spider V 240 with FBV3 and GT10 Some initial observations (only had it a week or so) The Good Nice FFFR type Hi Fi Cabnet sounds good when aux input is used (get one of these: https://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B00ZKM3SDO/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o03_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1) I run my Boss GP10 into the aux and my regular guitar signal (via GT10) through the modelling chain, then mix them with the volume pedals. Aux input doesn't disable guitar input. Stereo Nice front panel, love the way you can set up tone/vol preset and effects settings from the front panel knobs, then save them with the push of a button. XLR out for DI to mixer Intuitive design for changing patches Android spider remote seems to work reliably well for me on my older android tablets Seems plenty loud. I'd might measure the power and spl. My free GT10 came in within a few days after registering. When do you ever see that in an incentive program! Love the GT10! I'm still tethered via the 13 pin cable for the GK3 pickup on my boss,GP10 but I can run both simultaneously( see my first bullet point) The Bad Limited documentation. very few technical details anywhere. C'mon guys, anybody who's going to program this thing seriously is a gearhead!) Flakey update software. I couldn't get my FBV3 to update on two different Windows 7 Professional systems. Finally got working on an old Windows 7 Home Premium system. Not impressed with support. They told me to send FBV3 back. I said I would send All of it back for a full refund. They didnt' even mention the "hold 'A' button with 'FS1' while plugging in USB" to get 'update required' when pedal was bricked. FBV3 hast to be stomped 32 times to get to from bank 1 to 32 and vice versa (no wraparound, no fast mode,no shortcuts) Really? No harmonizer effect. No PC edit software I'm not big on the stock patches. Seems to squeal and feedback a lot. No easy way to edit complete banks of patches, everything has to be moved around and overwritten one patch at a time. It's a nightmare trying to put a setlist together. Flimsy CAT7 cable between FBV3 and Spider.V You're supposed to know what each effect does. Again, poor documentation. Cant find a way to download patches without knowing what you're looking for first. A big list would be good, or even sorted by type. I'm not interested in searching for the author's name. Who would know that anyway? Drum loops are a bit of a gimmick...cant change the tempo? The Ugly Not much. It looks pretty good I think! Overall, I'm happy with it, just takes a bit of getting used to, coming from the Boss GP10 (which still has it's issues), but has extremely detailed documentation for those times when you need it.

Got it to work on a Windows 7 'Home Premium' system. Wouldnt work on two systems with Windows 7 Professional.

For all users wanting to update FBV 3...
oldmanrockband replied to Maurill's topic in FBV Controllers (MKI / MKII / 3)
I cant get it to work with Windows 7 Professional 64bit. I tried two different computers, different symptoms on each. Neither works and unit is bricked. Support is talking about me sending it back if i cant get any lights to come on. 'Update required' comes on when I hold FS1 and 'A' when I plug USB in. If I have to send it back, I'll be sending my Spider V 240 back as well and looking for a refund. -
Tried to update my FBV3. updater doesn't finish, bricked my unit. I tried 'hold FS1 and A' and plug into USB to get 'update mode ' on the screen. Update still doesn't work. In on Windows 7 64 bit. Any ideas? I tried both local and online update modes. No success.

Late reply, but the FBV3 wil change banks. However, unless I am mistaken, you have to tap the switch 32 times to get from bank 1 to 32. No wraparound, no fast mode, no shortcuts. No good, IMHO.

I find it distracting...

Man, somebody needs to write a manual for this thing! Am I right in what I just read a few post up? I can search the cloud, but I have to know what I'm searching for? No drop down or listing of available patches on the cloud? And I drop a grand on this gear and I have to watch amplifi videos? Also, how do I view/change the order of the effects/amps etc. in the chain, and how do i see the chain? I don't see a chain like there is at he top of the amplifi app. Thanks Andy

Yeah it came in a few hours ago. Haven't cranked it very loud at all yet. It sounds very 'Hi-Fi' ish to me. I'm not used to the bass compared to my JCM800. I think I like it though! A lot of the stock settings sound kinda same-ey. Haven't really noticed any stereo effect yet. Now I gotta apply for the free GT10T promo that's going on right now!

I'm new here, but power is power. If you have two 120 wrms amps it's the same as one 240w. Tube amps 'sing' nicely when overdriven, so it works when you crank them to their limits. SS modelling amps do all the distortion in the signal processing, so if you crank one of those amps you get the processed distortion PLUS the un-musical clipping of a SS amp at it's max. Also doubling power only gives a slight difference in perceived loudness, so yeah, an open back 50w tube combo with an efficient speaker may well sound louder than a SS 240w closed back combo. I just ordered a spider V 240 off amazon. Hope I'm not going to be disappointed! I have a Marshall tube JCM800 4010 combo, which i don't really like. I'll do a comparison when the spider comes in.
