I definitely don't want to start a rumor, but I have noticed in the past that some effects "trickle down" from the Helix series to the POD GO. I know that none of us may know definitively, but has that been your observation too? Also, can I say how awesome this is? That they continue to update the devices we have? Things like that just make me glad with the choice I made to purchase the POD GO and happy to support the company.

To clarify my question, I am not asking because I want to put something there. I am asking why you can even PUT something after the cab. Conventional knowledge leads you to think distortions, octave pedals, etc. come before the amp/head. then you can put maybe a delay and reverb in between the amp and the cab, and then of course the "last" block being the cab. I did read in the manual that if you have a stereo effect, it should come after because if it's put before a mono block, such as a cab/IR, it will "turn into" mono. So, that is what my question is about, really. If I want to act as if I have an FX loop, (without real pedals, using the one on the POD GO), I can put them between the amp and cab (right?) but if they're stereo...put them after? One minor thing I noticed (which I admittedly may have to verify again) - I put a booster (in the POD GO, not an actual one) after the cab block and it boosted everything more than being in the "fx loop" (between head and cab). Does that make sense? (I guess it doesn't matter, really. If the desired effect is desired, it doesn't matter how you get there, I suppose)

Apologies if I've caused any confusion. Voxman has the right idea. I was aware the synth effects were monophonic, which is why I bought myself a separate polyphonic octave pedals for chords. So my logic there was that if THOSE are monophonic, then basically every other synth and pitch effect is too. And I did so some more testing and for the most part, the simple pitch does really well. Especially on octaves and 5ths, and things like that. Where I catch a little of an issue is when I play some more jazzy chords. but for the most part, for things like Guns N Roses songs, as mentioned, I suspect it will be just fine!

Please see attached screenshot. There are three rats. Yes, one is the mod. And yes, I know in the manual they reference that they updated the Rat, but didn't remove the old one because people still had it in their old presets. Ok, fine. But why the third one, and why is it in a different color? And to be clear, it's not just the Rat. Two Chandler tub drivers, two metal zones, two tube screamers. Am I missing something? (is there text that I am just reading over that explains this?) - unsure if anyone here knows, but if not, Id be curious to know from Line6 themselves.

I know this comment is over 2 years old, but if anyone else sees this (or if this user is still active), I have a question. 4 channels of USB? I know about the USB port, but what are you referring to here? And would this matter if playing live, and not using the usb?
-
I know that I am capable of mostly answering this myself, but I know a lot of the synth effects are monophonic. (but I guess, to be fair 1. different set of effects 2. They're replicating "older" effects faithfully. However, playing a half step down with that effect, it tracks pretty well actually, and I don't hear many hiccups, and that's only if I am purposely listening for it. Has that been your experiences too?

Take the SD card out of your computer. (the one that is probably there. If not, ignore.) Yes, I am serious. Yes this happened to me and that is what it was.

Well, if he was to set it at -10 or -12, that would solve the issue with the sound guy saying that it already clips his mixer, but ironically I came here to ask a similar question. I just tried to use a tube screamer, in the POD GO, to get a boost, and it did....a little. Obviously adjusting the main output won't change anything because its, well, the main output. I guess I could lower the output of the other pedals so there is more of a contrast, but then I run into the issue of the primary sound being too quiet. Would it just make sense to put an external boost/overdrive pedal before the POD GO just to take the POD GO out of the equation for that? (in your opinion)

I feel like I may post a lot of questions here, and for that I apologize if you're sick of seeing my username pop up haha Let's say I have a BOSS pedal and another pedal I want before the pod go. Does the BOSS pedal need to be the one literally connected to the POD GO (I suspect not) or can it just be anywhere in the chain before it plugs into the instrument port? (to make this easier, the two pedals I want to use should be used at the beginning of the pedal chain anyway, but I was just curious if the BOSS pedal needed to be the pedal right before the POD GO for it to function like a buffer.

Thank you. That's the conclusion I am coming to. Appreciate your reply. Honest, and to the point. I did see another video of the line 6 FM4, and the synth string sounds pretty much the same, so this seems to be something that is better handled for those polyphonic pedals you mentioned, like those from ElectroHarmonix.

A couple questions, I suppose. I see users on YouTube playing with different synth effects and they can play full chords. Is this not possible with the POD GO? or do I have a setting screwy somewhere? When I do, it gets all "confused" and makes these odd robotic sounds. No matter where they are in the chain. (I keep it near the beginning as I understand that is where they "should" go. Also, I am just listening through headphones at the moment, if that matters. Now, I am aware that it may have something to do with my attack, or maybe it's just the nature of the digital effect as opposed to a dedicated pedal. But I feel as if I am doing something wrong. A little embarrassed as I have been playing for 28 years, and have come across many pedals in my time. But the string theory and Synth String as useless to me in the way that I have them set up at the moment.

PodGo 1.40 update changed all my tones, much brighter and grittier.
daveaphotopod replied to Root6t6's topic in POD Go
So can we just assume that firmware apparently fixed the impedance issue? It would make sense, as they wouldn't necessarily "put it in writing" but still solve the issue. Especially if you haven't noticed a change. I've already updated the firmware, so I can't do any testing. I've also just recently bought a BOSS pedal but it's not included in the POD GO, so it's not as if it's useless. Then again, as I type this, I guess I COULD test it and see if there's a different between the BOSS pedal buffer, or not. If there is, firmware did nothing for that, apparently haha -
Any official response on Pod Go Impedance issue?
daveaphotopod replied to ibalashov's topic in POD Go
So just to reiterate, without starting a new topic, if I wanted to get a BOSS pedal anyway- using it between the guitar and the unit should solve the issue, correct? Also I think I remember reading somewhere on this post that someone had issues with anything longer than 10' (which again, is somewhat of a moot point because my plan is to use 10' anyway. I know some people mentioned sending it in, but I wanted to pick up a BOSS pedal regardless, but I wanted to make sure I didn't miss an update. I don't have the wireless version of the POD GO. Also, one follow up question. The BOSS Pedal I am thinking of is the CP-1x. I heard that this one is digital as opposed to some/most of the others. Will that no longer work as a buffer? Or does that have no impact? -
How to use the two cable method with a combo amp?
daveaphotopod replied to daveaphotopod's topic in POD Go
Sorry for the confusion! I was referring to a setup like I saw in this video. Where it bypasses the preamp section, but uses the power amp section (I hope I typed that out correctly). Which I guess leads up to my next question: I am aware that his technique will not allow for any ability to use the front of the amp, which would be ok with me, but how does this affect the effects? As you mentioned, some should come before, and after the pre amp. Do I just have to make sure the "correct" effects are before/after "send/return Fx loop" entry in the effects chain? (screenshot of a different video for reference below, and link to the video I mentioned) -
I believe I already know the answer, but.... ...I've seen videos on YouTube that have been very helpful. But they usually show a head and cab. I have a Fender Champion 100. It does have a "pre out" option. Should I stop overthinking this and realize it functions the same? And, as if I have seen in one video....just disable the cab IR, because I am playing through an actual....er, cab? Basically what I am asking is if a combo amp should be treated any different than a head/cab setup, in regards to the pod go.

I know of two solutions: use the same preset and make a snapshot of the amp with the gain up, and the other with the gain down. Or, of course, use a clean amp, and add a distortion pedal. Yes, I have played with my POD GO, but I am just curious if I missed anything else. My actual physical amp does has a footswitch to swap between the two channels it has. Does anything like that exist in the POD GO? Or were the only solutions the one I mentioned? To be clear, in reference to my last sentence, I'm not asking if the POD GO can change the channels on my amp. I am just asking if there is one in the POD GO itself that has both a dirty and clean channel. Thanks in advance.

Ah this is great news! Somehow I had looked over the 4 effects you mentioned, but great to know they added all those other ones!! And it just came out Tuesday? Wow. My timing couldn't have been any better haha grdGo33, now I am curious. I will test this out later when I have time and see if I have the same results. In reference to the second part of my post, even if there is no Adrenalinn pedal clone in the POD GO, is there a arpeggiator? (same comment about my searching skills sucking if there is something I am just overlooking. As a precaution, I did just hit Google, but I see no mention of it, but it could just be my search terms)
-
I am sure that this topic has come up MANY TIMES, and I can confirm that after a quick search. However, after that quick search, I determined that some of the topics are just "too old" and in other cases, they start on one topic and then the conversation veers off. So, let's say I want to make my guitar sound like a synth (think something like the Electro-Harmonix SYNTH9) - is there anything like that? Also, John Mayer's song "Bigger Than my Body" - is that still "impossible" to do without owning the Adrenalinn pedal? By the way, if my searching skills suck, please point me to a thread where this was already covered.

Thank you everyone for your help. And yes SiCantwell, that may be the route I take. I did see another user in a YouTube video say the same thing. No sense in having a cab, if you're going into a real cab. I also saw a video recently where it made more sense to me, and echoed what pianoguyy said above. (If you plug into the effects return on the back, you can use "whatever you want" , cab excluded - because, as mentioned, essentially what you're doing there is bypassing the controls on the front of the head, and just using the head to power the speaker cab.) I was a bit overwhelmed watching all those videos, and didn't have the amp to test at the time. I was getting it right at the gig I was playing at. I usually keep the POD GO head and amp active as I usually just play at home with headphones. The amp connections messed with my head a little bit that day, but again, I appreciate the responses.

Ok, I'll try to be brief. So. POD GO....amp out? or main out (mono) to the fx out on the solid state head? If ANY of that is wrong, feel free to correct. However, once the amp out and the main out is sorted, then what CAN I use? Because it's a solid state amp, can I use ANY preamp, amp, and cab I want? Or do I turn the cab off because I have a speaker cab? (see my dilemma? I've watched videos, but they say turn the cab off because it compresses the sound, but no.....wait.....its fine because you're going through the fx loop, not the front of the amp....but...) ...when NOT going through the front of the amp and using the FX out (??) on the amp head...does that still allow you to control channels? Does that port on the back only bypass the tone controls on the front? Or also the channel switching? I ask because I will be playing a song that switches from clean to distorted. But I cannot locate a head on the line 6 pod go that has two channels to switch from. Having said that, if I am a dummy, and I missed one, or HOW to do it, please let me know. I am aware that I can create snapshots, but the head I tested this on still sounds distorted with the gain down. It also sucks the volume out of it, which can be boosted with another setting, but then you're doing this fancy footwork trying to balance them out. I know that I can just use a clean head and add a pedal. But....yeah....why can't I just switch clean to distorted as I can on my REAL amp? Anyway, try to avoid any mocking if at all possible. :-) This may be obvious to you, but not common knowledge. I guess as a LAST resort, I could just use the effects and do all the distorted and clean switching from the actual head/cab....but then....yeah.....where would you.....plug..... well....you get the idea. Any help GREATLY appreciated.

Um. Well. Ok. You're not wrong. But let's pretend I am in a cover band, and I want to use a preset that is already set up for a song that we are covering. Am I to go through each preset for each song to see which song the preset is supposed to represent. Consider all the possibilities before you leave comments like that. Clearly I can "play" with all the tones, but for cover band situations, and because Line 6 went through the trouble of MODELING THEM, it would nice to know what they mean..........
-
I am also looking for a list. Shame that Line6 just expects us to know what they mean. I mean I understand that there maybe be copywrite issues, but can't they say "this preset is supposed to sound similar to" a U2 one is obvious. a metallica one is obvious. a Green Day one is obvious, a Queen and an Aerosmith one are obvious, etc etc. But some of the others are just....well....I dont know. I feel like I am playing a trivia game when trying to sort out what song it is supposed to be.
