SOLVED!! Don't ask me how...I just turned it off, had a cup of coffee, came back and turned it on and all is working!! Thanks to everyone for your patience and taking the time to help me with this odd problem, really kind :-)
-
Ok thx bu I'm not sure any of those suggestions would help because, don't lose track of the fact that everything works as expected with EXACTLY the same HX Stomp settings when connected to the Power Stage 170!? This is such a weird problem...I really don't get it
-
Yes I do but...how does this help? I still can't get any of the HX Stomp sound processing to my Hotone amp which is the point of this thread so...? One odd thing I notice is that there is a considerable drop in volume when using the DSP Bypass as opposed to the Analog so I set it back to Analog. EDIT: I now realize that the drop of volume with the DSP Bypass was due to the fact the the HX Stomp's volume knob still controls the output so raising it solved the issue.

Yes! Exactly. With HX Stomp off, I hear the guitar, when I power the HX Stomp, there's no sound. So...sounds like you were expecting that behaviour. Do you therefore have an explanation as to why? Thx Datacommando... I don't understand what you are saying? Why aren't they being used? What makes you say that? 4CM...I first want to understand why this basic setup isn't working since it should work (as I wrote, it works fine with my Power Stage 170 so...?
-
And yet that's exactly what's happening

This is very odd...when I connect my HX Stomp to my Hotone Siva Boogie mini-amp, I get no sound at all?? This is my signal chain: Guitar > (mono In) HX Stomp (mono Out) > (Input) Hotone amp > Speaker. Pretty basic stuff. If I keep the same exact signal chain and just replace the HX Stomp with any random FX pedal, it works fine!? As far as HX Stomp settings, they're the same exact settings I use successfully with my Seymour Duncan Power Stage 170. All I did is replace the Power Stage 170 with Hotone amp so...what could be wrong?? Thx in advance!

I definitely wouldn't be doing it myself as I don't have the know-how, tools or skills to do it but I was just wondering how repair-friendly it is and therefore, if Line 6 were to charge too much, I'd like to know how 'easy' it could be for someone with some basic electronics knowledge. There are monthly self-repair workshops being held near me where you are invited to bring your defective electronics to be repaired by budding electro-tinkerers. Usually it will be toasters, lamps, etc...but they also have an audio-only event which is where I might take it if Line 6 won't repair it (I've had many experiences where - when it's not too complicated and time-consuming - companies will graciously repair something even out of warranty, just to be customer-friendly and get good reviews ;-), so fingers-crossed!).

Yes...but used and out of warranty I'm afraid :(

Strange... Schmalle, as suggested, I first I did a reset (FS1, 2 & 3) and it didn't fix the problem. Since I no longer had any presets, I then of course did a Factory Restore (FS 2+3) and tried it again and to my surprise, there is some improvement! On the 2nd or 3rd press of the button, it will work! I opened a ticket with Line 6 support to hear what they have to say and suggest because this is getting stranger as we go on!? Are there any other 'secret' key combinations that need to have that 3rd button pressed to have some kind of test performed, like the LCD test previously mentioned here? Because until now, that was the most revealing result since the button worked on the first press as it should! Just curious to see what else I can try to further troubleshoot. At least I'll have a lot to submit to the Line 6 support team for them to think about. On a side note, just because it's good to know, is there some list of all these key combo tests that can be performed on an HX Stomp? (like the various resets & LCD test) EDIT: It has stopped working again so at this point it looks like it's really mechanical/electronic rather than a software problem. Thanks all for your help, I think this is now a job for the Line 6 support team. Has anyone attempted to make some repairs on their HX Stomp? Doesn't look like it's something you can easily open and tinker with.
-
No, it does absolutely nothing.
-
Ha! How very interesting because it did boot in that LCD test mode (which I wasn't aware of) so...what now then? What can we conclude from that result?

Hi, The 3rd and last knob to the right, under the screen that's used - among other things - to save presets stopped working! That is, the pressing action has stopped working, turning the knob is fully operational. Also, the button is not stuck at all (I mention it because I read that's a problem other users have had). Has anyone else encountered this? I'm fairly new to the HX Stomp so is there maybe a setting that might fix this or...I dunno...some solution I hope! Thx in advance! Chumbo

Again, I can manage to find a solution to deal with the issue, I was just curious if what I was asking was possible or not. It's been answered several times already now, I get it, it's not possible. Thanks for all the suggestion nevertheless! :-)
-
Ok, I'll check later because I'm not at home right now. Not sure what you fear from loading the preset in your HX Stomp but you can download the file direct from Line 6 Custom Tone page. And here's Charlie Allen's demo of what it sounds like.

Ah yes, should have mentioned it, it's a HX Stomp. It's of course mainly a concern when gigging. Being on stage and browsing through presets and having all these changes in volume, noise of all sorts as I'm looking for the preset I want to load is pretty annoying I find. Of course, I can think of a bunch of workarounds but it's not ideal, which is why I asked. So it's not possible then...too bad :-(
-
It's all in the title. It can of course be very desirable and useful to be able to hear them while browsing but it can also be really annoying and troublesome because of the level changes that can occur and the background the noise generated by certain 'extreme' fx. I was hoping for a way of browsing the Presets where find the one I want and confirm by the press of a button and only then have it load. Is that possible? I asked ChatGPT but as too often the case, rather than admitting not having the answer, it seems to want to invent one. It gave me instructions which seemed promising since it was describing the unit layout fairly accurately and how to access the Global Settings and supposedly deactivating a setting that unfortunately doesn't exist: Press and hold the "PAGE" button until the "GLOBAL SETTINGS" menu appears. Use the joystick to scroll down to "PREVIEW BROWSER". Press the joystick to enter the "PREVIEW BROWSER" menu. Use the joystick to select "OFF". Press the joystick to confirm the selection and exit the menu.

Bump...nobody has given this a try?
-
Hmmm, interesting, as I'm browsing through my presets, I realise that most are silent! It actually comes down to one problematic preset that I unfortunately like a lot! I'd be curious if some of the more expert users (I've only had my HX Stomp for 2 days now) could try and figure out what's 'wrong' with the attached preset that causes the hum? (It's an 'Artist' presets from awesome guitarist Charlie Allen) Charlie's Amps.hlx
-
Well, I guess the equivalent for me would be to try a different outlet than where my active studio monitors are connected...just tried that now, didn't help unfortunately :-(
-
Wow! 80 USD! Yes, it might work but then so would an aftermarket PS which would be cheaper. Still, I'm curious about my more general question...anybody else notice this? Doesn't it bother you?
-
I'm also having a +-60Hz cycle hum with my HX Stomp however in my case, I have nothing other than the HX Stomp straight into a PC. sinlimo, in your solution you speak of solving the problem by powering via USB...so the HX Stomp was not the problem in your case then? (You can't power the HX Stomp via USB...right??). Anyway, I noticed that it disappears completely when I disable the amp blocks in the preset. And I'm talking about a clean sound also, not even a hint of distortion and no pedals either! What's the solution there? An aftermarket PS with an earth prong? Is that what every HX Stomp user is doing or am I the only one bothered by this...or the only one with the problem!?

Just wanted to say that I was able to make HX Edit portable (using Cameyo) but as others have pointed out, you still need to have the drivers installed on the host computer. Still, the HX Edit software is now portable and can easily be moved around on Flash drive and run from there.
