Helix Native 1.90 not Mac OS Catalina compatible?
aaron__aardvark replied to aaron__aardvark's topic in Helix Native
al_eebee, Are you sure you are getting the new features of 1.9? Someone else (see nearby recent thread) says 1.9 is just loading 1.82 for him with Catalina.........never mind he got it sorted out later. -

Thank you guys for replying! Even if it works in Catalina, it seems odd they wouldn't say it is compatible. -

loonsailor, Thank you for replying! Makes me glad I haven't tried it yet. -
Helix Native 1.90 not Mac OS Catalina compatible?

Gyrfalcon & TJNewton, Thank you for replying! Unrelated: at least I fixed my Melodyne and Soundtoys issue. -
Today I got an email from Line 6 regarding Helix Native 1.90: it sounds attractive, but I noticed that it did not say it is Mac OS Catalina compatible, whereas with Helix Native 1.82 (which I'm using now I think) Line 6 says it is Catalina compatible, and I have yet to have problems after trying it briefly (I have a new iMac). As it is, I have yet to get Melodyne and a Soundtoys plugin to work with Catalina, so I am skittish to try this out. What is the official word on this? Or your experience so far?

10 year old iMac going to new iMac with Catalina
aaron__aardvark replied to aaron__aardvark's topic in Helix Native
soundog, That's good. I would have kept going with my old iMac, but I didn't want to put a significant amount of money into a computer at least 10 years old to fix the monitor. -
10 year old iMac going to new iMac with Catalina

soundog & klowy, Thank you for replying! I'm hoping for the best. If I had to, I could go to an older OSX, but that can cause problems too, I've learned in the past. -
I have an iMac that is at least 10 years old and the monitor is getting pretty bad, though mostly visible (Mac OSX 10.11). This week I'm getting a new iMac (with Catalina 10.15). I have already read about Line 6's statement about Catalina. Other than using Apple's Migration Assistant, anything I need to know regarding Helix Native and migrating over to a new iMac? I use Cubase AI8, though it sounds like that won't work with Catalina. Lucky for me (hopefully), Steinberg sent me a free license for Cubase 10.5 LE recently.

soundog, Thank you for posting. Will probably check into this when I have more time.

loutowart, Interesting. I haven't spent much time pursuing it, though I don't even know how to do the split thing (don't bother explaining unless you can do it quickly). I record separate guitar tracks for double-tracking, but I know what you're doing is a bit different.

soundog, I was trying to help loutowart, though thank you. I'll check out the link, see what I might learn.

You can't just do panning in your DAW? This is easy to do in Cubase. You're probably not going to get what you want by trying to pan only using Helix Native....I guess you could use the Pan model in Helix Native, but doing that in your DAW would probably be easier.

Test your ears! PodXT or Tom Scholz (Rockman) Soloist?
aaron__aardvark replied to aaron__aardvark's topic in Line 6 Lounge
BrettManDude, Sorry I did not reply faster, I did not receive a notification of your reply. You are correct, the Tom Scholz (Rockman) Soloist was used on "Are Your There?" Congrats! :) pianoguyy, Thank you for replying also! -
I put two songs in my music website: "Sanctity", which is the song on top, and "Are You There?" is the next song down. One song uses the Tom Scholz Soloist (a version of the Rockman), and the other song uses the PodXT for guitar amp modeling. Can you tell which is which? Please tell me how you like the music, and how it can be improved. Here is my link: https://www.soundclick.com/artist/default.cfm?bandID=224436&content=songs

Test your ears! PodXT or Roland COSM? New Dec. 2nd!

OK, here are the answers: "Living Again" uses Roland COSM amp models, and "Exodus Through Egypt" uses PodXT amp models for guitar. -

Test your ears! PodXT or AdrenaLinn? New Oct. 26th!
aaron__aardvark replied to aaron__aardvark's topic in Line 6 Lounge
OK, here are the answers: the low distortion guitar (with tremolo effect) that starts at 0:04 has AdrenaLinn amp model and effects, and the distorted guitar that starts at 0:47 is the PodXT. -
I forgot the name of it, though I was pleased with the Glenn DeLaune patch set with Smashing Pumpkins, Faith No More, Steve Miller, Stone Temple Pilots, and Ratt sounds.
