  1. I reckon it's major improvement, give it time. These new models ( all of them) do sound a little different but better to me, and like anything that changes it can be drastic to some and not to others. However having not had the guitar long I didn't get to know the previous versions in great detail, never the less I can tell the difference
  2. Before the update 3.5, after 4.9. The guitar was boght two weeks ago, out the box, not bad, a few quality control problems with the scratch plate ( a bubble here and there). Fret buzz present at the A and E strings when fretted up to 5th fret. I raised the action which took care of that. I like the set up and feel of the JTV 69, but, the models were not quite right until the update. Intonation spot on and the mag PU's sound very good to me. A big worry for me the E slip off problem, no such problems for me, the neck and frets are fine as is the nut. I have never owned anything like this before, I have always played organic guitars ( lot's of them) through various vintage and modern valve amps and I have to say, in conjunction with the Pod Hd this set up is very close to the real deal. I have not used the guitar on stage as It was bought for home studio work only, but, I may, but probably not, and that's because at the moment I have packed up playing live. Impressed? Yes.
  3. Well I have just spent an hour or so on the guitar and that Strat 2 and 4 sounds like a Strat to me. It has spank, sparkle and I reckon it sounds better than 1.9. Like I said earlier, the guitar is now a vast improvement on 1.9. I have found that although first impressions of the Ric 12 were good and better than the previous version, there is still if not as much strangeness in the notes. The only box I have had that could come close to a 12 string was a Yamaha magic stomp and it was made in the 90's, very difficult to emulate a 12 string electric. I have not connected to the workbench so I have no idea whether the bug has been fixed, but this guitar in position 2 and 4 sounds fine to me as do all of the other models including the Ric 12. I have always liked brighter sounding guitars so maybe it's just personal taste, it sounds like a real guitar and plays like one too. I'm happy.
  4. Here is my take. I have just flashed to 2.and the guitar sounds a hell of a lot better to me. Gone are the warbles on the 12 strings, the model Ric is a vast improvement, there is more definition between all models and last but not least I reckon the spank two sounds way better to me too. Before the guitar sounded very odd in particular the 12 strings on both electric and acoustic. I was hesitant to do the update but couldn't resist, I got the timed out error but did it again and it went through. I am using it through the pod hd, the sound of the models is more organic, brighter, hotter ( particulary the les paul) responsive to pick attack and the P90's now sound like P90's also the volume jump from mags to models is less of a shock. I for one am pleased with this new version, but to me the Strat two position sounds very nice if slightly darker than 1.9. Verdict, I'm sticking on two for now. Cheers.
  5. I have the JT 69, I bought it new a couple of weeks ago, I then bought a xt but quickly went to the Pod HD. I like what I am hearing. I am running 1.9 as that's what it came loaded with but I am hesitant to go to 2.00. I like the Strat 2 position, it sounds like a Strat, so I'm on the fence about this till there is more news. Whole new world for me. Oh and hi folks. I have been a member since 2009, I bought a spider combo and got rid fast, but this new stuff is something very different and I am still finding my way around. Cheers.
