  1. I know that Helix SHOULD be able to do this ... just can't work it out by myself ... I am preparing a Brian May tribute that should be opener to my band's show. And I would love to start with something close to the sounds, Brian May came up with and which up to now, nowone I know was able to copy. It is these sound games that start in this video at about 2:40 ... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=inhExqvtztE In the 80ies I had the luck to meet Brian himself and ask him, how he did this and he answered: with an Eventide Harmonizer, whose output was going directly into the PA (NOT into his AC-30s!). Well, obviously there's more to this. For instance he seems to do some pitch shifting with a pedal and there seems to be a decent portion of delay included either. All of this equipment IS included in the helix, the delay, the eventide and the possibility to separate the signal and route it through a special output going directly to the FOH mix ... Still I can't work it out how to even get close to this sound. One problem that baffles me is for instance: how does Brian get a feedback without using his AC-30s?? Whenever I am playing the HELIX directly over FOH with monitors I NEVER get any feedback at all ... And mind, he's doing it live as well, not only in studio. Any help here would highly be appreciated.
  2. It's been two weeks since I got an H9 max. Not much to say that you can't guess or you don't already know. It's superb. ...but, I must say... as famed as Eventide's pitch shifting algorithms are, the whammy on Helix sounds waaaaay better to me than its H9 "equivalent", the Pitchflex, which is sounding grainy, not as fluid as the one on Helix. Also, I can't tell that H9 does a better job than Helix at harmonizing. Congrats, L6. Other than its "whammability", the H9 is brilliant, and it's going to be a perfect complement for the Helix, for those moments where my patch needs that extra cpu intensive block and the Helix is already breaking a sweat. Compact size, which I welcome, as I'm already taking up nearly as much stage space as our keyboardist. Stereo, perfect for one of the stereo loops in Helix, that I can put wherever I want in the chain. I don't want to go into all the "oranges and apples" arguments, I know they're not the same kind of beast, I'm just SO HAPPY that I have both and how they fit together.
  3. hi guys..love the my Helix...really do....still i would love to also use my eventide H9 max and control the tempo. using the Helix.. in the past i would use the Hd500x and m13 (cause of dsp) and controlled the m13 through midi (tap tempo, scenes)...i am havin a hard time...trying to set up the Helix to sent tap tempo to the eventide...i have looked at the manual...but i still can't get it to work...any help please.. thank you all
