ChaserHUN
Hey! I want to buy studio monitors for my POD HD500X, to make some home recordings/demos, what is the best buy for aournd 170 dollars/pair? I don't want to spend too much more on it. I have a cheap superlux headphones but it's not the best for mixing/mastering tracks.
bjnette
IF you are tracking then you will find the KRK 6'gen 2 rokits will fit the bill. But for mixing twhile they are still usable the mid range detail is what costs in monitors in the thousands. I'd save the pennies, somehow extend the budget to thew KRK VXTs. Even if it is only the 4' model but 6' give the best bass response and a sub won't be necessary for guitars, maybe electronic mixes might need a sub. ChaserHUN
Well I won't have that kind of money soon, so I need to go with something cheaper :(
FlyingsCool
There's lots of research available out there, check out gearslutz.com and thegearpage.net The JBL LSR305's and LSR308's are about in your price range, I ended up going with the 305's, and will get a subwoofer at a later date. Gonna be hard to find a pair of anything decent for $175. On sale, the 305's go for about $225 for the pair. I haven't heard good things about the Krocks... ChaserHUN
Or should I go for studio headphones for mixing? Would I get better quality in sound for the money? Also can I use somehow my pc speakers on the POD so the whole band hears what the other is playing when tracking?
