petepraise
I want to start with an explanation, I hate batteries! I forget to charge them, I remember to charge them then leave a cable plugged in and drain them. My JTV 69s is in hospital getting set up - for the second time - when it came it was horrible so to save the wait of my usual luthier I went to the big city and he made a pigs ear of it I persevered for a year then to celebrate my Amplifi 150 sent it off to get better to where it should have went in the first place. sorry I'm rambling. While this was happening I put my battery on charge and thought I should really buy another then found there £40 here in the UK and thought surely there is a power adapter if it was more money it would still be worth it to get rid of the battery. Well if there is I can't find it or anything saying there isn't so if anyone can enlighten me I'd be grateful. I was using my HD500 but it's a bit big for a power pack and that's all it was. Anyway I had to sell it to buy my Amplifi. A solution would be great before I need to buy a spare battery.
snhirsch
Have you not seen the AC power adapter? Line6 has made a couple of different types over the years. I picked up a little stomp-box sized unit on eBay. It powers from a wall-wart and connects to the guitar with a TRS "stereo" cable. The current model is a larger unit with a foot switch to direct the guitar output to two different amplifiers (think: FRFR for acoustic and combo amp for electrics). Either way, you never worry about batteries again.
petepraise
This sounds exactly what I'm looking for I'll search again now I know it exists and see if I can find it in the UK. I think I saw the pedal type you were talking about on Sweetwater but it was your side of the pond and it was unclear whether it was JTV compatible or older Variax. Thanks for that
petepraise
I found it on a UK site on its own no power or cables but it was $34.50 (£22) so I'm expecting it today. I bought a spare POD XT live power supply years ago when I had the unit and I still have it so I'm hoping it will power the JTV (which I don't have back from the luthier yet - bummer!) When I know the results I'll post them. Another part of the forum reminded me I need a TRS and guitar cable for this unit but I have these so it's a waiting game now
petepraise
So far so good, I got the pedal today and the power adapter fits it perfect. It lights the power led and activates the switch LEDs when pressed so I can't see why it won't power the JTV. If that's the case this unit is a steal for UK JTV owners who want power instead of batteries. At £22 for the switch and £20 for a power supply assuming you don't have one already that's £44 a spare battery is £
sinistralx
yeah, i have one of these which works a treat for home use http://www.musicstore.de/en_EN/IEP/art-GIT0007806-000 powers my varian with a TRS cable and ac adapter but generally i am connected to hd500x viz VDI... don't even know where my battery is! i lost the battery charger during a house move a while back and never bothered to replace it :)
petepraise
Yes if you have the Pod and use it then it's ideal as it runs the JTV. I had a 500 and had considered upgrading to the X but in the end I was drawn back to guitar synth and went to a GR 55 and 300 loop station combination. The hd 500 was just sitting in my studio powering the Variax so I sold it to buy an Amplifi. I just wish my JTV would come back from the luthier I'm not very patient, still he's coming to our music store today with guitars so I hope one of them is mine. How do you rate the X is it really a big difference to the 500?
sinistralx
Had the 500 and being a sucker for marketing I sold and bought the X . I very seldom ran out of DSP to begin with so for me the upgrade was negligible. I have since started using dual signal paths and I am sure that if I was still on the 500 I would be hitting DSP limits (that's what I am telling anyway 🙈🙈)
petepraise
You can never have enough DSP
