TomyGun
Hi, I just got a new JTV 59. I see that the manual that came with it is a joke considering the complexity of this guitar. I am sorry but I guess that I am a little slow or should be taking the short bus to school from now on as I am lost. I have a HD500X and a DT25 also, so I have completed my "Dream Rig." Thing is the manual that came with, the manuals online or the 2 tutorial videos that line6 offers explain nothing of how to actually make these things work together. I would love to know if you can set up a preset of modeled guitar in Work Bench and a model Amp in HDedit and actually save this to a Foot Switch on the HD500? I swear that is what they (line6) imply, but nowhere do I see how to do that? Are there links to these instructions of how to videos that anyone might point me to on using this Dream Rig? How to save preset modeled guitar and modeled amp? You know Eddie Van Halen guitar and effects, stomp the switch and bang guitar amp and effects are all set. Then Hendrix Strat w/ 1/2 down, fuzz and whah, stomp and bang. Please tell me that this is what the Dream Rig does? I understand that I need to setup in HD Edit and or Workbench. But how do I combine and then assign to a switch? ALso any other must see links of videos that might save me a couple hundred hours of searching. Like a little more explanation of how to use the cryptic 3 position selector switch to get 5 guitar models. I think the instruction manual has 2 sentences and a picture the shows a button and an = sign. Thanks Tom
Matt_Brown
Well, you just got an amazing piece of kit but it will take a while getting your mind round it. You will find that the fog starts to clear pretty quickly though and it will become easier. For me I downloaded all the manuals on the support section for all the bits if kit (to a tablet) and this helped me get familiar with my rig. The main pointers I could give that answer some of your questions is that to get the 5 guitar models from a 3 way switch you have three (obviously) when you power on the JTV - the guitar model switch will light in white. You get positions 1, 3 & 5 on a 5 way. Press the tuning knob and the guitar selector will go blue. The 3 way then selects 2, 3 & 4. I thought this would be a pain when I started but you willfind that you will do most switching with patches on the Pod and its really no big deal! Yes, you can do as you say and save whatever you like as a patch. I suggest you consentrate on the Pod manual as that is the 'brain' of the set up. I would plug it all in and have a play. Its all part of the fun!
Tboneous
Yes you can save your variax settings to a foot switch on the Pod. Go to the mixer page on HD edit select your VDI input to JTV and then in the drop down window that says "Don't force" pick the model you want your JTV go to. Set up your patch and hit save. Done! Matt_Brown
It will get easier! one bit of advice I DIDN'T take that I wish I had is to learn to programme the 500 using its buttons. I got caught out at a gig the other night where I wish I could have tweaked a patch but without connecting it to a computer I'm useless! I need to read the manual again! samsgs
I've had my dream rig a little over two months now. It is overwhelming at first but you will learn fast. I find the HD Edit manual very helpful. It will tell you how to set and save tunings, fx, foot switches, guitar models, etc. to a preset all by way of HD Edit. But I too am concentrating mostly on the computer and not enough on the POD. It is a lot to learn but it is all there and for now HD Edit is how I am learning. The other thing that has helped probably the most are the people and threads on this forum. Some older posts are really helpful if you stumble on them. Keep reading posts and asking questions. These guys have really been helpful.
