podman01
Hello forum. Looking to get a Variax Standard very soon and was wondering if any of the users here use their Variax with a POD XTLIVE.. I've owened a POD XT LIVE for long time now and have grown accustomed to the sounds and tones I have created over the years. Would I have any limitations if I were to get a Variax Standard? I would rather not upgrade to the HD pedals if possible. I also want to get a Stagesource L3T speaker as well. Thanks for your time.
phil_m
The XTL won't work as an interface for Workbench HD, and the Variax Standard will only run the HD firmware. So if you want use Workbench, you'd have to use the little USB interface that comes with the guitar. You also lose some abilities that the POD HD has the the XTL doesn't. On the HD, for instance, you can save a specific tuning with the patch on the HD. With the XTL, you'd be limited to saving the tuning either with the model on the Variax or manually using the alternate tuning knob on the Variax. Basically, though, if you've never had those features, you wouldn't necessarily miss them. Nothing wrong with keeping the XTL for now. podman01
Thanks Phil!! That makes sense being that the XTLIVE is an older model.
