Disconnecting speakers while recording?

Hello all,

SPider valve is my fav amp,but too heavy to carry around & too loud to control. So it pretty much sits at home. However I am trying to use it for my home studio with a direct output.Doesn't really sound too good although I tried both output options. This maybe because I keep the master volume & channel vol v low.I was wondering if I can disconnect the speakers (I see a connection for speakers in the back panel), & crank it up.Is this ok/possible/harmless ? Will that drive the tubes enough to get a good tone?

Do not try this! You'll damage your amp. The output transformer needs to see a load, and running the amp without speakers connected is like shorting the output transformer - not good.
