quadcabby
Can anyone tell me if it's possible to use the onboard compressor to "duck" or reduce a music source when a microphone is used. If so how? We sometimes provide a dj service and it would be seriously handy but can't figure out how to do it on the M20D. Thanks.
eklynx
I believe that requires side-chaining on the compressor, which the m20d doesn't do to my knowledge. (having the 'trigger' sound be a different input than the compressed sound)
psarkissian
Ducking is usually done with a shelving filter.
Rick_Auricchio
Ducking is usually done with a shelving filter. Yes, but as eklynx said, the compressor still needs a sidechain input.
psarkissian
Yes, sidechain is a good idea.
quadcabby
OK, thanks guys. Guess we'll have to strap the trusty old Behringher compressor back in the rack. Seems an odd omission from the M20d software but hey ho can't have everything I guess!
Rewolf48
I have added it on Ideascale because it is something that I found an odd omission and I hope that a Firmware update or new model is forthcoming that will include sidechain on compressors (or on the related idea of filtered side chain inputs on the Gates). http://line6.ideascale.com/a/dtd/Side-Chain-Compression-for-M20d/778461-23508
