meanmesh
About 6 years ago, I bought TonePort DI Gold which also came with the Gearbox software. Since then, I've upgraded to Pod Farm 2.5 Platinum. Can I sell my license for Pod Farm 2.5 while keeping the TonePort or do I need to bundled them together (is the DI dongle needed to run the software)? Also, where can I find info on selling this? Thanks in advance, Mesh
BigChas52
You can sell it, and then use the "gift" process to transfer it to the new user's Line 6 account. Note that POD Farm license can only be gifted once. The buyer will not be able to resell it. Also, DI Gold comes with all of the model packs, did you buy PF 2 standard (you would have inherited all of the model packs from DI Gold, or platinum, which has it's own licenses for all of the packs. If it's standard, only the base models will transfer with the license.
meanmesh
Thanks for the reply BigChase!! I upgraded to PF 2 Platinum (IIRC, there was a great upgrade pricing of $35 (something like that) and I jumped on it). I noticed that the majority of gear in PF2 Platinum isn't available to use if I don't have my DI Gold plugged in...... Won't the new owner have this same issue? Meaning, isn't the PF2 software tied to my DI Gold? On a separate note, I actually liked using PF2 Platinum for all my guitar tones (even with having Amplitube 3, GR5 etc...), but the drivers were really flaky (dropouts/crashing etc...) in Win 8/8.1 and I'm not sure if the drivers have improved for Win 10 (my current OS). If they work well, I'll probably keep this. ;)
Triryche
Sounds like this is an upgrade to a Hardware Enabled license. If that is the case, then yes, you still need the DI as a dongle. You could try running the Line6 License Manager and authorizing your Computer to see if you have access to the models without the DI plugged in. Sometimes it gets a bit squirrelly with promotions that were offered before Line6 offered a Hardware Independent version of PF 2.5.
meanmesh
Thanks Triryche.....I"ll try running the Line6 License Mgr. without the DI. I also believe my software is tied to the DI dongle..... I downloaded all the updates for Win 10, but haven't installed/ tested anything out yet.......(I sort of gave up on Line6 for about 1.5 years now) and reading all the lack of support posts from Line6 on Win 10 (using 2013 drivers? really??), certainly doesn't instill any confidence to use their products. TheRealZap
the platinum part is tied to the device... the 35$ license was just the pod farm 2.5 standard software... which turns to platinum with the DI-G model pack licenses... so you cant sell platinum unless you include the device... the model packs will be hardware dependent... but not the PF 2.5 software.
