BigRalphN
I was wondering if any of you are using any of the Line 6 Relay wireless systems with the Helix and how it is working out. Or even a Shure system? Do they play nice? Have there been issues? I am specifically interested in the Pedalboard systems.
kensington
Not sure what you're asking? If Relay G30/50/70/90 works with the Helix? Of course. Like any other pedalboard, amp, simulator. It just replaces the cable:)
Joepeggio
Works great. I made a small board with my G50, TC tuner, and Drop (until Line 6 puts one in the Helix). I cant tell a difference between wired and wireless, though I am not avid user of vintage fuzz or wah pedals.
rock2112
I'm using the VDI cable with my JTV89F, but this past weekend I used the G30 with my bass at church and it worked great. I haven't heard much in the forums about how the bass amps on Helix were, but the sound guy at church was digging what he was hearing. My G30 has always worked great. It just replaces the cable:) As a sound guy who used to do 100s of events a year I can tell you this is not the case. Especially with wireless. They can react differently with every system they are plugged into. Everything from noise, to interence. I realize wireless have gotten better since my road days but just recently I saw a new wireless brought in that could not be used with an HD400.It sounded fine into an amp but the 400 sucked every bit of tone out of it. BigRalphN
Sorry if that sounded rough. It wasn't meant to. That is one thing I hatw. It is easy to come across wrong in writing. I look at wireless along the lines of good versus bad cable. Some hear no difference between low loss hd cable ant Reverb $8.00 cables with thin shielding. If that is how a person is,then why spend big bucks just to say you have great cable. In a live situation it really is not that huge as the audience won't know a difference. But with wireless come other issues like inherited noise, interference that doesn't exist until hooked up to other devices, and even WiFi trouble. Often companies design things like a Helix and just assume there will be no issues in simple connections but reality can becdifferent
kensington
No offense taken. I was merely trying to understand your question. Myself, I'm a touring guitar player with approx. 100 gigs per year, and have been for the last 15 years. I've using the relay with Pods, Marshalls, Axe-Fx, random amps provided by the venues, and I've never experienced any difference.Same goes for my bass player and 2nd guitar player. Cables? yes. I have however experienced wifi lollipop...but that's understandable to me, cause the relays works in the wifi space :-)So in all simplicity, I'm using the Helix on a gig tonight, enter stage in 1 hour, and it worked fine on soundcheck...also today. hehe

I really appreciate the info. I was torn between the Line 6 and a Shure system. I wanted a pedal board type system. And being a church player WiFi does scare me a little. I ordered a the line 6 system today. Hopefully all will be well. I am sure are more up on things than I with your background. I have up the whole road game in 1990. i did local stuff until 1995 now iI just dabble from time to time and fill in if needed at church. Guitar has always been just a hobby and church thibg.
a2dconverterguy
Hello BigRalph I am using a G30 Wireless Receiver with my Helix with no problems... I had to build a 9VDC breakout box to power it as the Helix does not have any auxiliary 9VDC ports to power pedals... There is an IEC power inlet, big red power button and [2] 9 VDC isolated power ports for pedals. A small 1/4" jumper cable connects the receiver to the Helix Guitar IN. I hope this helps seeya Joe

Leftzilla
I use a Samson Airline wireless guitar system with my Helix going on the third live gig now with it and I have had no problems
BigRalphN
I got the G50. It arrived today. Super great build. It works great around the house. We will see on Sunday how it does live. I expect it to be fine though. I am not familiar with that particular Samson. I had an old Samson from awhile back that was useless. I believe it was the old HF style. It was super noisey. I gave it to Goodwill. Some kid will like it. It came with a nice case and all. It was probably top of the Samson line in its day. Just too out dated.
