hideout
I'm sure there's no comparison but as a Fender Mustang Floor user whom, despite its many shortcomings, manages to get very usable sounds about of this cheap little modeler. I'm sure the Helix will eradicate all of the thing I miss in the Fender. So no, it's nowhere near what the Helix is. Let's just get that out of the way. One thing it does offer very Fendery representations of classic Fender amps... Duh. And... And it has Sag and Bias controls for every amp model!!! All this at a price of $199! One of my favorite things to do is to cranks the Sag and Bias on the Fender Twin model and crank it and lowered the preset volume setting - very fun. Has anyone done this on the Helix and what does it sound like? Any clips?

Has anyone done this on the Helix and what does it sound like? Any clips? I have the Mustang III. As far as I know it uses the same Software to create patches (fuse). At the time I bought the Mustang I still had the HD500. One of the first thing I missed in fuse was the possibilty to fine tune the Sag and Bias. As far as I remember there are only 3 possible position to choose from which I find very limiting. Mustang for me is a very handy and nice sounding practice amp though. Helix (and also HD500) has BIAS, BIAS X and SAG and you can tweek them fluidly - not only 3 steps. So yes Helix has it and it has way more possibility to fine tune the amp settting. Oh - and it sounds great ;-)
hideout
Thanks for your response, Dshow. So have you tried that cranked twin I speak of?
Dshow
No, not yet. I have to try on the weekend. What sound are you after? Do you have an example?
silverhead
The latest Helix firmware release (yesterday) lists the Fender Sag issue as being fixed.

I just want a cranked Twin sound as it's doable in the studio but not very practical with a real Twin for live use. Waaaaay too freaking loud! LOL Somebody somewhere posted the idea of having a Variac parameter for the amps. I thought it would be cool to have a virtual "amp starved for voltage" sound. gkinder
Just remember that a little move up on the Helix goes a long way.... cranking up a Helix setting may be way over top sounding... most controls have a pretty wide sweep..... haven't worked much with the twin but the amp settings on other models have been dynamic and produced good results with a few nudges here and there, i.e. sag, bias, etc
