snydzzz
Ok so its my first post on the forums, and i just had one question about the helix. i am considering buying it (trading up from a Dual Rectifier Solo Head and 4x12) and i just wanted to know what should i play it through as far as speakers go? would a 2x12 cab with no head work? PA system? i really have no idea... thanks in advance for any help or advice.
mkornell
A 2x12 cab (or any cab, for that matter) direct would not work. The Helix does not have a power amp built in, only outputting signal at line level. It is suitable for running into pretty much any type of amp/speaker combo, though. It really depends on the sound system you have in your rehearsal or live system. Direct into the PA works really well. But you can also run into an amp on or off stage and mic that to the PA. What is your situation?
maxnew40
I really like the Line6 L2 speaker for the Helix. I own three of them (two for vocal monitors) and they are really amazing powered speakers. -Max
DarrellM5
I run into lots of different stuff. I have a pair of Alto TS110a PA speakers, which go for about $200 each, which sound really good. I also run it into a DT25 amp using the L6 Link cable, a Peavey 6505+ using 4 cable method and a Randall RH100 (either straight into the front or in 4 cable method). All of these sound great but if I had to narrow it down to only one, I'd probably go for the PA solution. It also sounds great with headphones.
