roscoe5
Early again as I have meetings tomorrorw. I am using these few v3 IR's of my Mesa Recto 2x12 V30 cab and various Mesa power amp sections (2:90, 20/20, Stiletto, Mark V, Recto) on all Helix amps now. https://www.dropbox....YGijLxa/v3?dl=0 New IR's added this week (SM57 2in from center, off axis) MesRec212_2ioaD_20_EL84.wav - Mesa 20/20 EL34 power amp MesRec212_2ioaD_20_EL84_Bt.wav - Mesa 20/20 EL34 power amp, presence set higher for more chime MesRec212_2ioaD_MV_6L6.wav - Mesa Mark V power amp, Ch1 Clean mode (yes, the channel and 1st preamp toggle affects the power amp)
roscoe5
Bonus content posted!!! Made some Mesa 2:90 power amp only IR's by request (thanks mb1685!) for theoretical use in place of an impedence curve mated with a cab IR to simulate more of the amp-speaker interaction, similar to Redwirez. Try out the Mesa 290 ones and let me know what you think. I placed a test preset with a Helix amp, power amp IR, and Helix cab with adjusted levels and mixes out there for you too. Try just turning the IR on and off and note the difference in sound and feel. https://www.dropbox.com/sh/lstuzn05tdpin9v/AABetYOykwB272V2-iYMrWWXa/v3/Mesa%20290%20Pwr%20Amp%20Only?dl=0 Mesa 290 (6L6 tubes) Normal, Deep (D), Modern(M), Deep + Modern (DM) each with Presence = 0%, 25%, 50%, 75%, & 100%. Maybe the Line 6 cabs are just missing a little tube sauce that is on a lot of the 3rd party IR's that we all like. If you guys like them, I could IR my other power amps listed in https://www.dropbox....YGijLxa/v3?dl=0 !Helix IR Readme v3.txt . Would be a lot easier to remove the cab and mic variables from the IR process and just use Helix cabs.
LesSand
Newbie question: shouldn't the power amp IRs be paired with a pre-amp block instead of a full amp block?
roscoe5
OK, one more bonus IR. After having my ears in the IR physical domain for a while, I thought I would visit my old girlfriend Amplitube 4 with some new tricks up my sleeve. Setup a Helix amp into an AT4 Mesa Recto 412 cab. Mic'd it up with a dynamic 421 on one side and ribbon 121 on the other, positioned the mics and mixed them to get smoother sound with still a little bite. Ripped many IR's with it and refined my creation and editing techniques until the Helix amp through the IR sounded EXACTLY like the Helix amp through the AT cab. IR and Helix preset are in the AT Mesa 412 V30 folder at the link below. https://www.dropbox....YGijLxa/v3?dl=
roscoe5
Couldn't resist because I love the dual SM57 (one at 45deg) mic in AT4. Made one more with dual SM57 (2D57) and ribbon 121 (R121) before I sign off. IR and Helix preset are in the AT Mesa 412 V30 folder at the link below. https://www.dropbox....YGijLxa/v3?dl=0 Have a great weekend!!! roscoe5
Newbie question: shouldn't the power amp IRs be paired with a pre-amp block instead of a full amp block? Intuitively you would think that, but the impulse response does not capture the tube power amp distortion and compression, only frequency response and phasing. So it's not quite a full tube power amp model. However, these tube power amp/cab and amp only IR's can be used both ways, moreso I believe than other IR's, since there is more power tube coloration. Note you really have to turn up the preamp volume, adjust the eq and presence, and the IR level, High & Low Cut a bit to get equivalent volume and tone of the amp models, but it is certainly workable. Not sure how or why, but the Helix preamp only models still have Hum and Sag control which I thought were tube power amp traits. Works for me though, glad they did it.
Cattlerancher
Did you ever end up grabbing impulses off the lonestar cab? I'm working up an Andy Timmons preset, and those would sure come in handy. Especially if you grabbed them with different power tubes, as he is not running two different poweramps, el34 & 6l6. ;)

Especially if you grabbed them with different power tubes, as he is not running two different poweramps, el34 & 6l6. ;) Well, that deal on the Lonestar cab was craigslist and it fell through. The guy sold it before the Sunday I was going to pick it up. Sorry I didn't edit this post. However, I did pick up some Mesa Black Shadow C90s (same speakers as the Lone Star) and can do a speaker swap in my Mark V 1x12 combo, which should be as good as that Lone Star cab. The Mark V cab currently has a V30, which I'll IR it before I swap it out. Then I'm planning on doing BS C90 Recto 2x12 IR set and a V30/C90 Recto 2x12 IR set. I'm tempted to order one of those Mesa Fillmores for the Mark V combo cab and IR it. Pretty good article on the Mesa site about its development http://www.mesaboogie.com/amplitudes/2013/November/mesa-boogie-fillmore-75-speakers.html
