CollCrofter
Hi folks, new here so please forgive my knowledge, or rather , lack of! Anyway, I have a Helix arriving today which I am really looking forward to playing around with, but I also bought a couple of Ownhammer IRs just to play with to try them out. I bought a couple of Vox and a Fender Deluxe. So once that was complete I was greeted with a page (picture) with more individual downloads than an Eagles best of album. I presume I don't need to download the files that have Fractal or Kemper but there are a lot of files that don't mention any manufacturers names... So what do I need to download?? I am a fast learner, promise. Thank you very much in advance, greatly appreciated. Cheers
duncann
You'll want the ones with 48 in the name. 48kHz sample rate. When imported, Helix will convert anything else, 44k, 88k, 96k to 48k anyway. Best of luck with the choosing of IRs. It's fun.

Many thanks!
HonestOpinion
Wow that was fast! And obviously I need the ones all marked Line 6?? Many thanks! They will not necessarily be categorized as Line6 IRs or even mentioning Line6. You just want the ones that have the specifications Line6 recommends for the Helix or that can be converted by the Helix. http://line6.com/support/page/kb/_/effects-controllers/helix/impulse-response-irs-r759 Quote from the Helix manual: The Helix app updates the Helix hardware's IR list automatically. Helix can load and store up to 128 IRs at a time. 48kHz, mono, .WAV type IRs are supported.

ColonelForbin
Yeah buddy! I just started messing with IR last week. Way cool! Started with the Ownhammer Justin York pack; also grabbed a couple of Marshall cabs from 3 Sigma and Redwirez. I have been using some of Glenn DeLaune's patches, and some various uploads to Customtone; just start experimenting with switching out the stock cabs with IR's. Sometimes you have to delete the cab to make it fit, other times you can A/B compare them. Also, check out this video; some cool ideas about blending two IR's:
PeterHamm
Mess with the built-in cabs (especially dual cabs) first. They are really great imho.
CollCrofter
Thank you both for that!! handy video and I'll definitely play with the built-in cabs cause now that I actually have it I am very impressed even with the presets! (most of them anyway) One other question for you good fellows... Inside the downloaded files are dozens of WAV files. Do IRs work as in you download each specific tone or setting rather than adjusting the gain for example on the menu? So if I pick a WAV then there is no adjusting that so if I want another then a upload that specific one to the Helix?? This is my first step into the digital world really so again, I truly feel ashamed :(
