Raunline
Got my Helix a little over a week ago and I'm having some issues plugging into my Line 6 DT50 1x12 amp. I've tried plugging directly in, using the 4 cable method, and by using the XLR as well. Any way I've tried it I just get overloaded tones and they sound over saturated. I know it's gotta be something simple that I'm not doing. Any advice or help would be highly appreciated.
DarrellM5
Did you turn off the built in modeling via MIDI? By XLR, do you mean the L6 Link?
Raunline
I didn't turn off the modeling and I am plugged in by the L6 link.
Jugghaid
Turn off the modeling and cab simulations in the DT via midi. Also what I have done going into a DT50 is to use only amp models (some prefer preamp models) with no cab or IR.
Raunline
Awesome! I'll try that as soon as I get home from work tonight! Thanks for the info!
roscoe5
You can also go 1/4" out of Helix to 1/4" effects return/power amp in on the DT. This bypasses all of the DT HD modeling as well.
Raunline
Ok so I'm a complete dumbass. Remember when I said that it's probably something so simple? PREAMP! I went right in with the L6 cable and then it dawned on me.....try the preamps in the Helix. No amps/cabs.....just preamps for every patch. OMG what a difference! No over bassy, distorted, or tinty tones so far. All the patches I've switched to preamps sound so much better. Again I'm a dumbass but I'm a persistent dumbass! Makes me want to call in sick tomorrow at work.
