roscoe5
I currently have a JTV-69 and am thinking about swapping it for a JTV-59, since it is closer to my favorite main guitar a PRS Singlecut Trem 10 top. I really enjoy the tele models on the JTV-69, and it of course has physical single coils for my strat sounds. The Lester models are pretty good too. Do the tele and strat models sound exactly the same on the JTV-59, even though it has different body wood (mahogany/maple vs alder) and carving? One more seemingly strange question I'm sure... Are the black JTV-59 carved maple tops "flame" maple as well, like the tobacco and cherry bursts, even though it is a solid color? My PRS is black with flame maple top which looks awesome. It would be cool to sand the black JTV-59 top and stain/refinish to match.
psarkissian
Question-1: Yes, pretty much. I would need a spectrum analyzer to discern any differences. There may be slight variations due to playing style, wood batch, string brand and gauges. Question-2: Yes. All are the same underneath the coating, only the coatings are different. I own two 69's and two 59's, each model sounds the same no matter which one I use. I would need a spectrum analyzer to discern any differences, if there were any.
