Enabling stomp boxes with patch presets

Hi guys,

First of all, I am new to the Helix and absolutely love this thing. I purchased it specifically for smaller venues and its ease of set up and breakdown. But, it has quickly become my go to rig for all venues. Really love the sound it produces and I have just scratched the surface of it.

I owned a POD HD500X prior to my Helix purchase and there are a couple of things I have found "easier" on the HD500X (mostly because of me being a newbie to this product) than on the Helix. The first is the ability to have internal stompboxes available with my presets. For instance, I have presets 1A, 1B, 1C and 1D on the bottom and 2A, 2B, 2C and 2D on the top. I have configured presets 1A-1D as my band patches, but want to use 2A-2D as stomp boxes to add to my patches when needed. Its probably something extremely simple, but I havent figured it out yet.

Also, enabling the looper. On the POD HD500X, it was as simple as pressing a switch. I messed with it last night and could not figure it out for the life of me. I have watched a couple of videos, but still havent figured it out.

Any help, ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

For the different rows of switch control, see the Global Settings. One of the options is Footswitches. There you can control what the footswitch display/controls look like. You can, for instance, choose 4 Stomps / 4 Presets which allows you to control preset selection on one row and FS on/off on the other row.

To assign a FS to an FX block the simplest thing to do is to use the touch capacitance feature of the switches. Select any FX in the signal path view. Touch (don't depress) the FS you want to assign it to (make sure you choose a FS in the correct row if you have separated the rows as above). The Helix display will change and allow to to confirm or deny the assignment, along with the option to add this assignment to the existing FX already controlled by that FS or to replace the existing assignments.

The assignment of an FS to an FX block also applies to the Looper. Assign it to an FS as described above and this becomes your Looper on/off switch.

Press the menu button and press knob 6 to go to the Global Settings menu. Move over to the Footswitches icon, and under Knob 2, you'll see all the different options for Preset Mode. To match what you're doing on the 500X, you'd select Stomp/Preset. That will give you four presets on the bottom row and four stomp switches on the top row.
