Helix Post 2.20 update, USB connection keeps dropping

Just like title says.  I can play for about 15 minutes or so with the helix hooked up to my computer via USB and after a while the Helix application says "Helix Device not Conected" and loses the USB connection.  Windows throws up an error that says "the USB device you just connected has malfunctioned."  I've had to reboot to get it to work again.

I followed update procedures to the letter and have reinstalled the local 2.20 helix drivers now twice on my laptop.  Thoughts here.....

I'm using a Mac, so that might account for a different experience. I use to have a lot of problems with Helix USB connections, but changes in Helix and changes in Mac OS seem to have addressed that, especially recent Mac OS releases. I have no problems at all with 2.20.

Helix can be sensitive to USB cables, use a good one. Use a USB 2.0 port if you have one. Drivers might need to be updated on Windows. You didn't say what Windows OS you're using, but this might be a case where updates are your friend.

Just another data point... I have not had issues with my usb 3.0 on my home built Windows 8.1 desktop. I've found the 3.0 usb to be successfully backwards compatible with all of my earlier usb devices. I've had it on for hours with both the Helix editor and HD Workbench (finally) , just not both at once...

One thing to try is to go to your Windows device manager and uninstall your usb devices, then have it search for devices, it'll reinstall the usb of your pc, clearing any logs that mark problems. I've done this to clear up issues before. Disconnect your usb to the Helix before doing. When you have the usb back, then reconnect the Helix, and it will reload the Helix usb driver. Just a thought.

Submitted a ticket to Line 6 support and this is what they sent back

Make sure your Helix is plugged in directly to the computer.
No hubs or secondary connections.
You should also try to deleting the interlock file for the driver.
Here is where its located: Go to the interlock file. The path is: C:\ProgramData\Line 6\HelixInterlock
Close the updater, delete HelixInterlock file and re-launch the app.

That solved the problem!!!  This should be a sticky on this forum
