Garf13ld
I love the Helix but one of my big disappointments with it is that the Ext Amp switching seems very limited. It doesn't work at all with my Blackstar HT5. I've had other pedal switching systems that had no problem changing channels on that amp, so I'm really hoping this is something that can be improved with firmware upgrades. Now that the LT is out, I'd hope this particular function will jump up Line 6's To Do list, as I imagine a lot of LTs will get bought as traditional multi-FX systems, rather than as amp modellers. From what I have seen on the forum this appears to be a hardware issue that you may have to contact Line6 support about. If this is not a configuration problem or easily fixed with a custom cable you may have to get a hardware fix from them to resolve it. I am curious as to whether they addressed this issue in the new Helix LT.

ricksteruk
There are lots of threads about it - search "Ext amp" and you'll find them. http://line6.com/support/topic/18401-amps-that-helix-doesn´t-switch-correctly
CraigGT
If it's not switching your anp correctly then it would be a simple matter to use a pp3 battery and a small relay to do the job.
