twystedriffs
So I usually start with the stock cabs, but like to add a seperate one for some flavor and depth. I find the soup pro a nice warm sound even though based on a small speaker. Rebuilt some patches with it, but wasnt crazy about the sound at practice tonight. And favorite cabs or amp/cab combos for a more modern rock sound? I am not big into IRs yet, have a few to play with, but Id like some stock cab recommendations! Thanks! schapman1022
Try the 4x12 Cali with the 421 mic. I think it sounds really good with most of the high gain amps. Dual Recto is a good place to start but also try the Mark IV, Modded JCM800 and the Ubersonic
MusicLaw
Helix's on board cabs (which are IRs) can sound great! And, they keep improving with each firmware released! Using a New (empty) Preset, drop in a Looper Block, an Amp Block and Two Cab (single) Blocks. Move the First Cab Block down to Path 1B and to the right so that it visually sits direct below the Cab Block on Path 1A. Select the Split Block and change it to a Y Split. The Y Split allows encoder Knob 1 to adjust the Left/Right Balance between the Cabs. The A/B Split allows encoder Knobs 1 and 2 to do so for each of the Split's Branches should you prefer to do so that way. Select different cabs for each Cab Block. Try one clean and clear to cut through, and another fuller and robust for body. Try different Mics, Distance and Early Reflections on the Cabs to enrich their character. Adjust the Blend of the Cabs using the Y Split. Use whichever Amp Model you like. You could even use two Amps. Here's a really good video to give you more ideas:
twystedriffs
Thank yall.. ive seen the looper trick, it makes to much sense not to try! I only have a few IRs, I have enjoyed the stock cabs just fine so far. I have a few dual path patches that sound great, but if I use the top for a cleaner sound, and am trying to get the bottom paths to sound better with just one amp. You never know what combo it will be, so figured a few of you would have some recommendations to doodle with..
