Helix > l2M > FOH ?

Hello everyone, I have just purchased a Helix LT and I am looking for the best way to use this live in my covers band. I was thinking of purchasing a l2m. Going from Helix into the l2m with an xlr, and an xlr out of the l2m to the desk/FOH? Would this be the best way to do it? I'm looking for a simple setup, thanks in advance!

You could do it that way, but the one drawback is that if you adjust the master volume knob on the Helix, it will affect both the FOH and the level of the L2m. You might want to consider just using the XLR out to feed the FOH and using the L6 Link connection to feed the L2m. You could disable the master volume knob control of the XLR outs and just set it to "Digital". That way you can use it to control your monitor volume.

Thankyou for the reply, that makes sense. My only confusion is if I set up my sounds through the l2m, If i go direct from the Helix to the FOH won't my sounds be quite different to what I'd be hearing back from the l2m potentially? Whereas if i'm going from the l2m out to FOH then wouldn't the sounds be closer matched? apologies if i'm completely on the wrong path here, I am new to this type of setup. Thankyou!

Ah... I understand why you would think that, but that's not how the L2m works in this situation. If you take line out of the L2m, it's just a parallel connection from the XLR in, so the L2m won't be affecting the signal from the Helix at all. It's literally just splitting the signal, not doing anything else to it. The Stagesource speakers are pretty flat, so patches you made on them should translate pretty well to different systems. I can't say they'll sound exactly the same, but you should be alright.

Use the L2M for your own (1/4" outs) monitoring and send a signal to the mixer (XLR outs) directly out of your Helix. You can switch the outs around if you want. You can assign the main volume control to one or both of the outputs. Mine controls only the 1/4" out so I can adjust my own monitor from the Helix without affecting the XLR outputs. Whatever output you do NOT have assigned to the main volume knob will act as if the volume knob is turned all the way up.

That's how I do it and it works great for me. Though I initially started out with an XLR from my L2, and that worked fine for me as well. I decided to use L6 link to the L2 and XLR to FOH because I can change my volume and not mess with the sound person.
