KRTW
So my Helix has the latest firmware installed - does this mean that the latest software bundle is loaded as well? How can I tell what bundle is installed? Also, where does one find third party amps, FX, patches, IR's etc, either free or for sale? This is an area I have NOT explored yet. Any advice or help most appreciated.
zivdud
It should be as long as you downloaded the latest version 2.20. There is two factory preset bundles at the the very top of the bundle presets and a third that contains templates the rest are empty for user own. There are no third party amps or effects because everything is modelled by line 6 and through their updates they keep adding more for free! But you can get IR's on line for free or pay, there is a lot out there, and you can get user presets from custom tone via line 6 website or through varies people who make and sell their own: Glenn Delaunne, Scott Helix channel and others. Hope this helped.
MusicLaw
The latest Helix firmware is 2.21. On your computer, you should be running the latest Helix Editor version 2.21. The latest version Updater, and Drivers are differently (lower) numbered releases. These are all indicated in the software downloads area on the Line 6 site regarding the Helix. Line 6 has already announced that the next version of the Helix firmware and Helix Editor software will be version 2.30. There is no timeline that has been announced for their release, other than Line 6 stating that once Helix Native has proven to be stable in the marketplace, the forthcoming firmware and accompanying Helix Editor software will be released. The forthcoming Helix Editor software 2.30 will be a new version that has been overhaulded and will share many of the same graphic user interface features as now seen in the just released Helix Native software plugin. KRTW
Thanks for the responses. I had no idea about custom tone via line 6 website, and this will be really useful. I have gotten a few IRs, not installed yet, but will try it out today. Again, many thanks.
HonestOpinion
Your firmware version will be displayed on the Helix as it boots up and also in the upper left hand side of the Editor screen. To see your Editor version open up the Help --> 'About Helix' screen in the Editor's menu.As others have indicated just having the latest firmware does not ensure that you have the latest Editor and driver. You need to download and install the "Helix" application version that matches your firmware in order to have the correct Editor and driver for your firmware. Running the global reset footswitch combination is what loads the latest factory templates and presets (also wipes out all user presets and IRs and resets global settings to default). You can find some nice links to free IRs at the link below as well as the many that can be found with the Google machine.http://line6.com/support/topic/17076-links-for-free-impulse-responses-ir-here/?hl=free+impulse
