rushfan3
Using only the usb out, can i record both guitar and vocal at the same time to separate tracks on garageband or logic? Obviously i see the several inputs and outputs on the back of the unit. But if I just want to run USB, would I still need to run XLr/instrument cables out of the helix and into the Scarlett or would having the USB run into my Mac still allow me to have separate outputs? Thank You!
rd2rk
Just change the output assignments of each path to the USB outs that you want to use, and set your DAW to record accordingly. By default, the outs are set to send on USB 1/2, so you could set Path B to USB 3/4. You can use the hardware outs for monitoring. If you need more outputs for monitoring than the combination of the Helix and Scarlett provide, just add a send block to one of the paths. jbuhajla
USB to Mac. You have 8 inputs and 8 outputs to play with that way. Also, connect your monitors (or headphones) to Helix to monitor so there is no latency. You can also record dry guitar signal simultaneously as well. USB 7 dry guitar USB 1/2 wet guitar USB 3 Mic You have LOTS of flexibility with using Helix as your interface.
silverhead
Helix provides many simultaneous USB Send signals for recording to a DAW. You will probably be restricted more by your DAW than by Helix. With respect to your specific question Helix can simultaneously and independently send both the wet and dry guitar and vocal signals over USB so that you can record four separate tracks in your DAW: two stereo (wet guitar and wet vocal) and two mono (dry guitar and dry vocal for later reamping if desired). Whether your DAW and your computer can support that in terms of multi-track recording capability and processing power is a different matter. TelT
You'll probably find going SPDIF to your Scarlett the best. Never been too impressed with the USB function of modelers personally, a dedicated interface usually does a better job of getting it on your hard drive.
