Studio One Artist, no sound.

I'm using Helix 2.21 and trying to record on a Mac (10.13 beta) using Presonus Studio One.  I can select Helix as the recording input, and I see 8 available sources (USB 1-8).  I can assign a stereo input in the matrix to USB 1/2, but I get no audio in Studio one.

I have no problem using Helix over USB with GarageBand, OBS studio, or as the input/output for any other application on the Mac.  The only problem I've had is with Studio One.  Presonus support has looked over my screenshots and system output and says it must be a line 6 issue.

I've tried both with and without installing the Mac Beta driver.   I've tried setting Helix to output on USB 3/4 (and changing the Studio One matrix to match).  I can never get Studio One to get any audio from Helix.

I have a Presonus Audiobox USB 96 two input interface, and if I plug a microphone into the Audiobox and select that input in Studio One I can record audio from the mic.

So it seems like Studio One just won't work with a non-Presonus USB interface.  No problems in other audio applications.

Anybody run into this?  Any suggestions?

Studio One does not need a Presonus interface.

The only DAW that required a proprietary interface was Pro Tools, and even they have realized that wasn't the best business decision, and have since changed that.

If you can get the Helix to work in other DAWs, and it is a fact you do not need Presonus interface for Studio One... Then the issue is with your settings.

I've tried every combination of setting output to multi, USB 1/2, 3/4, etc. I've tried to record from all eight USB channels that S1 shows in the audio matrix, multiple sample rates, reinstalling S1, everything I can think of.

S1 sees "Line 6 Helix" as an audio interface, but none of the input audio appear to get routed to tracks. The track input says that it's set to the correct input (the one selected in the matrix), but no sound.

Meanwhile, GarageBand works fine. Logic works fine. Presonus says it's line 6. Line 6 says it's presonus. I filed trouble tickets with both companies, sent them screen shots and system profiles. No luck.

For lollipops & giggles, try reinstalling Studio One, and your Line 6 Helix drivers.

That was the first thing Presonus support asked me to do.  Done and done.  Still no audio.  Super frustrating.  They've looked at all the screenshots and say it's Line 6.   I'm considering just taking the Audiobox 96 back.  A couple weeks ago I upgraded to a 2015 mac running High Sierra and unfortunately my version of Logic won't run.  I'd have to upgrade ($199).  So I bought a Audiobox because it came bundled with Studio One for $99.

But if Helix won't work with Studio One, there is no reason to keep it.

The thing is Helix should work with Studio One. This an issue with your setup, or your rig, not because Helix isn't compatible with Studio One, or that Studio One requires proprietary hardware.

This is from Presonus's own website:

Supported Devices

Studio One supports most audio devices, including ASIO, Core Audio (Mac OS X), and WASAPI (Windows) devices.

When using a WASAPI audio device in Windows, note that WASAPI offers Exclusive and Shared modes of operation. In Exclusive mode, lower latency can be achieved, but other applications (such as Windows Media Player) cannot use the audio device at the same time.

Refer to the Windows Control Panel/Hardware and Sound/Sound to configure the options for your WASAPI device.

Some of the users on these forums use Studio One as their DAW with the Helix as their interface, though I am not sure if they are doing it on a "Mac" or not.

I use the Helix as my interface for FL Studio just fine.

I made a little progress today.  If I go into the preferences and select Helix as both the playback and record device, then I start getting audio at the channel strip.   There must be something in the Studio One routing matrix that doesn't like having one interface as the input and a different interface as the output.   Although, this is exactly how I had it set up with Logic when I was using OSX Lion.  It works this way with Garageband and Audition, and several other audio programs on the Mac right now.

Maybe there is some bug in Studio One that prevents it from routing audio if there are two different interfaces?
