Expression pedal cable

I'm looking to get a Line 6 Mission expression pedal for my Helix Floor.  I have 2 questions:

1) Does the footswitch on the pedal toggle the effect like an actual way (step to turn on, step to turn off)?  If not how best to make this work (I'm still struggling to get the wah to activate like I want in a regular block).

2) Do I need a special cable or will a regular guitar cable work?

Thanks.

You can use a TS or TRS cable.  There's a separate jack for the toe switch which only the Helix Rack supports; however, you can use the non-toe switch model for wah or any other effect that uses a pedal.  Your patches can be setup to auto-engage when you press the pedal forward and auto-disable when you bring the pedal back to position 0.

I bought two of the Mission Engineering toe switch models for my Helix Floor just to have them, but the toe switch isn't usable unless you have a Helix Rack.  They were only a few bucks more and I figured I could them for something else in the future.  Aside from that, both Mission Engineering pedals for Line 6 are exactly the same.

Is TS a regular guitar cable? I've never used stuff like this before.

Yes. A TS cable is just a standard instrument or patch cable. A TRS cable is a balanced cable which you don’t need for this expression pedal. Both cables look nearly identical, but the tip on TRS cable has two rings on it instead of one.  It's a great pedal!

The Abbreviations TS and TSR refer to what you see at the connector ends of the cable. Both are 1/4" male plugs. The TS stands for Tip and Sleeve. Two Conductors. This is a typical Instrument Guitar Cable. The TSR stands for Tip, Sleeve, and Ring. Three Conductors. Used for a variety of purposes.
