aaronlyon
Where I practice in my office/studio, I have my walls treated with rock wool absorbers. But No treatment on the ceiling and floor. This leaves an aggressive mode at 137Hz. I always have to notch this frequency out of my recordings. I remembered the Global EQ feature on the Helix, and made the same tweak, and it improved the sound. However, I can only choose between 130Hz and 140Hz on the Helix. Is there a “fine” adjustment method so I can hit 137Hz? Seem to remember reading about that, but can’t find it in the manual.
DunedinDragon
Just choose 140hz and tighten up the low Q so you're not affecting that wide a range of frequencies. Unless you playing for people with ears like bats I doubt they'll notice the difference. On the other hand, I'm just pointing out that you're notching for the specifics of the room so that notch only applies to that room and not to any other environments it may be played in. Assuming you're recording direct and not with mic's that frequency that's acting up in that room isn't being captured on the recording, but it's being replayed on the recording and is subject to the room acoustics. If you correct it, it may not sound right when played in a car, or in some other room. You might want to verify it with a good pair of headsets on the replay to see how that notch affects the actual recording outside of the acoustics of the room
aaronlyon
This Global EQ setting is ONLY for practice in my office. And I agree with your comments about acoustics. I was just asking about fine adjustments on the Helix.
aaronlyon
Just confirmed that HX Edit does not offer a solution. Low frequency parameter still steps by 10Hz, no way to set 137Hz.

It is true as DD mentions that by working the 'Q' the difference should be fairly minimal. You may be able to edit the frequency in the .hlx file directly and then load the edited version back in but that will not help you for a global EQ, just a parametric. I don't know whether the Helix will "round" up to the closest frequency or not. You will have to test this but I would not be surprised if it works. I think in the long term it would be better if they went back to allowing finer tuning of the frequencies/parameters here and elsewhere.
