MattRyan3777
I recently bought a Helix to replace a tube amp and pedalboard I was using to play at my local church. I’m looking for some basic tips for setup. I haven’t tried it yet but I would be connecting to a Behringer S 16. What settings should I use? And how do you get volume consistency between presets. Also master volume level setting?

This is unanswerable. 3 hours ago, MattRyan3777 said: And how do you get volume consistency between presets. There are a thousand ways to do this. Output is adjustable at virtually every block in the signal chain, and everybody has their favorite method. If you're not familiar with modelers at all, then the manual is the place to start for "square one" type stuff. 3 hours ago, MattRyan3777 said: Also master volume level setting? The master volume knob is hard to miss.
DunedinDragon
I totally agree with cruisinon2. Hard to tell you what settings to use since the settings you use will depend on what you want it to do. That's what modeling is about. If you want to give us a couple of hints about the type of sounds/music you are intending to play we might be able to give you some ideas. But the best thing to do, especially if you're new to modeling is to spend some time studying. The manual is a good place to start, but there are also some pretty incredible YouTube videos out there. But I'm not sure how much you will gain out of the videos without some basis of understanding about the functions and vernacular used in the Helix...and that's what the manual should give you. Once you've got your bearings I'd highly recommend looking through some of the videos jason sadites has done on YouTube as they'll give you some good ideas about how to construct presets as well as snapshots. How well the Helix performs for you will be directly related to how much time and effort you put into studying the concepts and mastering the skills. Also master volume level setting? My recommendation is to build ONE preset to cover your songs at church in the beginning. If this is your first modeler, I recommend setting up a preset that is same/similar to your previous rig. Once you have that nailed down, then you are in the same shape as you were before Helix. Then you can branch out to create more presets. One word of caution, creating a vast number of preset causes complications getting the volumes to "match" from song to song. I have one main preset that I use as my template. I have an amp, 3 overdrives, always on compressor, and a compressor that I turn on and off. I balanced the volumes of amp only and over drives with the amp, and compressor with the amp. Once I nailed down the amp/overdrive tones I am happy with, then I use that as a template for each song, adding time based effects or anything else as needed. We play 4 songs for our church services. I copy my template into the first 4 preset locations, then add delays, reverbs, and other effects as desired. Since doing that, I have actually kept 2 delays and 2 reverbs in my main template, just changing some parameters as necessary per song. Since I am using the same base preset template, there is no balancing volumes between presets.
