erikopul
Hello, I have been reading all the ways to do a Global reset, Firmware update, etc. My HD500 is in a loop shows only line 6 in the screen over and over again, pressing the left arrow doesn't work as people has done it to get a global reset. I can get the Update Flash screen, and the test mode screen as well. Any help is appreciated. Also i read somewhere that could be that the USB chip is dead, or another chip
joel_brown
It can also mean the power supply is dying. If you have a volt meter, check the power supply for the correct voltage - which it states on the power supply what it's supposed to be. I had this happen to me. psarkissian
Needs to be serviced by a Line 6 authorized service center, not a user self repair, not the USB chip.
erikopul
@joel_brownI tried a new power supply from another unit, still the same when on safe mode never restarts. @psarkissian could you tell me more about it please, I'm located in Mexico, and have no access to a service center Edited January 17, 2019 by erikopul missing information
erikopul
like the second pic, it has the plastic in the middle of the USB port
psarkissian
Top photo is a broken USB port. Broken USB port and power cycling are two separate issues. Though failures don't always have just one source.

psarkissian
Yes. It is not a user self repair. It needs to go to a Line 6 authorized service center.

psarkissian
I can't get into circuit level things about it. There are proprietary issues, and we don't support self repairs. It has to be done a qualified Line 6 service tech.
erikopul
I am located in Gutierrez Zamora, Mexico and have no Idea how to get a service center to take my HD500, that is why I was looking for a solution.

psarkissian
Re-Flash would also not be possible if the unit is not registered in the account. It would come up on the Line 6 Monkey as an "invalid device".
erikopul
I can't get the computers to recognize the POD HD500, and it is registered
erikopul
It always tells me the drivers are not installed because it doesn't recognize the POD no matter what computer or cable I use, I have a POD HD300 and works with the same power supply and USB cable, so it is the unit itself
erikopul
@hurghanico Thank you for the help, I'm willing to repair it myself (I have an electronics degree plus i teach electronics) can't spend more than 100 dollars on this unit has you have said there are other units for about 200, the thing here I was looking for someone to tell me what kind of component is the one that doesn't work :(, sadly Line 6 want to squeeze out money from repairs without trying to help customers even if they can help. erikopul
I have check it out for a bad capacitor and nothing my next step will be measuring voltages in case a voltage regulator got burned, thank you so much for the help
erikopul
@hurghanico is there a place to buy the main PCB other than Fullcompass.com ?
psarkissian
There are things to be doe to the new board before you can make use of it. Another reason for this to be serviced by an authorized service center.

psarkissian
" I suppose that probably a new PCB needs to be programmed by L6, "--- or an authorized service center.
erikopul
So it is useless, I'll wait to see what the service center in Mexico city says, thanks

erikopul
Hi again Just to say you were right it is the microprocessor got erased because of the power supply needs to be replaced,
psarkissian
It wouldn't be the processor itself, but the memory (RAM or ROM) data loaded into a processor. If there is a power surge high enough, it can put any memory chip out of Read Mode and into Write Mode, and re-write memory or blank it altogether.
psarkissian
Yes,... surge can come from any of the afore mention reasons. But here in the original post, there are two problems, the damaged USB connector and the power cycling. Two different problems unrelated to the original post, it's not a blanked chip, it's some proprietary stuff I can't get into with end users. -USB would affect communications and ability to update and save edits. -Power cycling with the resetting logo is something internal that can't fix by the user. Requires an authorized service center (no short cuts around that one).
