Today we take a look at the Duncan PowerStage 170. A solid-state, 170 watt, floorboard sized power amp perfect for powering a guitar cab with the Line 6 Helix or the effects processor of your choice.

I ended up using it to do a shootout of a few of my mics…

Shure SM 57 Dynamic
Shure SM 7B Cardioid Dynamic
Blue Bluebird Large Diaphragm Cardioid Condenser
Audio Technica AT 2035 Large-Diaphragm Condenser

I routed DI signals from my DAW, through the Line 6 Helix Rack, and into the Seymour Duncan PowerStage powering an Overton 212. Thanks to my buddy Patrick for loaning me this beast.

The mics were tracked using my Universal Audio Apollo Twin Duo MkI

The PowerStage is great. It gets SUPER LOUD with plenty of headroom for stage sound. I kept the 3 band EQ flat for this test.
Some pretty great results. I was blown away at how these mics sound.

**MAKE NOTE** I kept referring to the Audio Technica AT 2035 as the “ATH 2035.” Apologies
