Updating from 2.71 to 2.8 and followed update instructions to the letter, and it has now been frozen on the "Boot Failure" screen for 5 hours. Ive tried to reset the unit and restart the update but now the updater doesn't recognize any devices.

Does anyone know how to reset the Helix so I can re start the updater? (Ive already tried the standard the power up while holding down switch 7+8)

Thanks

Following....I had the same issue occur.  I followed all the instructions listed; however, it was stuck midway.  It WAS pointed out that my HX Edit was being run through 2.71 - which is REALLY FRUSTRATING because I had done the updater.  But my desktop icon was still the 2.71.

I'm stuck in the same position.  I found online to hold Buttons 9 & 10 to turn the unit on...but the screen stays stuck on "Boot Failure.  Entered Update Mode"

Depending on your Helix model there are different startup sequences to put the Helix in manual update mode.  Here are the details:

After putting your Helix in update mode restart the Updater program and restart the v2,80 update.

If that does not work, reinstall HXEdit2.8(incl. all drivers)

You can read one of the other "Helix 2.8 update frooze / Boot mode does fail..." topics. ;)

How long does the 2.8 update take?  Mine has been at it about 3 hrs now, currently with the Boot Failure message on the screen and the % complete indicator at about 50%.  Is it frozen?

It shouldn’t take more than a few minutes. If it has been longer than that, turn the Helix off, connect it to a different USB port, and try running the update again (restart Line 6 Updater).

Thanks, the real trouble was that I hadn't updated HX Edit to 2.8.  After that, the update worked.  One question, though.  I've got both "HX Edit" and "Helix" icons on the desktop.  After the update, the program behind the Helix icon (at v2.11) says there's no device connected.  HX Edit works fine.  Previously, they both worked.  I don't see anyway to update the Helix program on the L6 website, but I'm not sure if I need to; HX edit seems sufficient to do everything.  Am I missing something?

Uninstall the program called Helix. It's the original, now obsolete, editor.
