How to record vocals with headphones to prevent bleed into microphone

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone

I recently purchased a helix and have been able to use it pretty well with guitars, bass and midi but I would like to start recording vocals for some songs I have. I live in a small space and its hard to dedicate a room to vocals only.

Im hoping to get some info on how to record vocals with studio headphones so I can stay at my workspace to record and not have the track bleed into the microphone.

Any help is appreciated!!

Thank you

I purposely purchased a set of speakers with a volume control on them, to record vocals i simply monitor through the headphones attatched to my ux1(in your case the helix) and turn the volume down on the speakers, effectively muting all monitoring function except the headphones. Then its just a case of background noise in your room.

Helix has a separate volume control for the headphones. I turn down the main volume control when recording vocals to eliminate the sound playback in the room. Also, you can use closed back headphones to minimize bleed from the phones into the mic, which are probably only about a foot apart while recording vocals.
