deparko
Hi, I tend to transition from practicing/playing guitar to other work/digital activities throughout the day. I seem to be switching the power of my helix on and off a bunch of times per day. Do any of you just leave it on during your work day? any recommendations..thanks
rd2rk
I've been told that with electronics, the most "wear" occurs during warm up/cool off. Many (me included) leave our electronics on all day. Some folks NEVER turn theirs off.
SaschaFranck
I have heard the same about "wear" (It's pretty plausible, too), but the old hippie in me won't let me get away with leaving any electronics on all day. And yes, I'm actually serious.
qwerty42
Heat tends to be what degrades most electronics over time, but on/off cycles can have in-rush current spikes that can also stress components, plus the mechanical wear of switches and such. In the end, it's probably a crapshoot, because failed electronics usually die from a single component that stopped working before it was supposed to (from latent manufacturing defects, poor QC, or a design that over-stressed it). The main thing I'd be concerned with leaving it on all day would be image retention on the display, but the screen on the Helix is LCD and probably LED-backlit, so even that's pretty unlikely to be an issue.
