HX Edit Crashes on launch

Hi after not playing in a while I'm getting back in to guitar and have bought an hx effects unit.

I have tried using hx edit on my laptop but it fails to launch every time. On launching app it appears in process list in device manager, then gets suspended listed beside process then vanishes. Nothing appears on screen at any point of this and process only up for a couple of seconds. Issue is same whether device connected or not.

I have uninstalled all line 6 apps, cleaned registry and deleted all line 6 directories from c drive then redownloaded and reinstalled but same issue occurs.

Laptop is a Dell inspiron 15 running win10 build 1909, all drivers up to date. I tried starting with all startup items disabled and tries disabling realtek process as read elsewhere this resolved for some but issue continues.

I own an hd500, jtv, dt25  all other line6 apps work fine and I was able to run line 6 updater and update the unit from 2.5 to 2.92 successfully.

Reimaging for one app isn't really an option, it seems there's a conflict with something on it, does anyone know if there is an event log anywhere for hx edit so I can try troubleshooting further?

Does it start if you don't have HXFX connected via USB?

Hi,

According to the OP’s comment, apparently not.

Issue is same whether device connected or not.”

It seems very strange, but I’m not a Windows user, so, I can’t really help out.

Although, there are lots of reports of HX Edit and HX Native either failing to load or randomly crashing.

Something weird happening for so many reports  to be posted.

Hi,

This may be somewhat obvious, but when you updated the firmware to 2.92, did you also ensure that HX Edit was updated to the latest version.

The firmware revision number and HX Edit must match for it to work correctly.

Hi, yeah crashes whether I have device connected or not. Hx edit version is 2.92 only version ever installed as I only just got device.

Hx unit was 2.51 tried to boot hx edit but wouldn't launch thought due to old firmware so ran line 6 updater which picked device up instantly and flashed fine. After update still crashed so tested without device and got same issue. Have installed on my desktop and it works fine on that with and without device but would be more convenient to have it on my laptop.

I'm an it tech for my day job so used to troubleshooting, just wondered if anyone knew if there was an error log created anywhere as couldnt see anything obvious.

Have you tried shutting other background apps off?  Logitech apps, for example?

I saw this; "I tried starting with all startup items disabled and tries disabling realtek process" but wanted to double-check.  Because this sounds like a straight-up software conflict.
