titchyblackcat
I want to set up a limiter in MY HX Stomp to get rid of the peaks becuase of my sometimes clumsy playing. So far the only one i could find is the LA Comp which has a limiter feature. Does anyone have any LA Comp settings to start me off ? Also is there any other limiter in the helix software that i'm missing ?
codamedia
Set the LA Comp "type" to "limit". Turn up the "peak reduction" to remove the spikes, you shouldn't have to change any other settings. There is no "suggested setting" beyond that, because compression and limiting is very dependent on the level inputting that block. Did the Stomp get "peak reduction" meters in the 2.9 update? Meters are very useful with stuff like this, as you can see the exact amount you are clipping off the top.
bassbene
Basically you can use any compressor that offers a ratio parameter. You can use the Deluxe comp, set it to 20:1, shorten the attack time and you are entering limiter territory. The new Rochester comp allows even higher ratios, but might color the sound a bit more.

I forgot that some of the comps in the Helix include ratio control.
