IzukuMidoriya
Does anyone know how the Zoom G6 compares to the POD Go? The G6 seems to be a competitor to the POD Go but I can't find an actual comparison of the two. Just to clarify, I have tried out the POD Go, but I haven't been able to try the G6 because it isn't available in the U.S. yet. From what I know, the G6 allows a couple extra blocks than the POD Go, and the looper doesn't require a dedicated block. The limitation of 4 customizable blocks with the POD Go is just one block short of what I wish it was. However, if the G6 sound quality isn't as good, I'd rather sacrifice my preferred effects chain and get the POD Go.
olerabbit
In Germany the Zoom G6 will be available in May/June so the information available at the moment is rather poor. There is a short comparison between Zoom G6, Mooer G250 and Pod Go: ZOOM G6 VS MOOER GE 250 VS LINE6 POD GO - YouTube While the Pod Go costs 479 € the G6 will be offered at 399 € at the moment. Regarding the features I find the G6 interesting. In addition to what you mentioned for example: IRs Zoom G6 offers 70 factory IRs in addition to the 22 standard cab sims. You can add another 100 IRs of your own. Pod Go offers no factory IRs. You can download 2 hands full of Allure IRs for free offered by L6 for example or have to buy IRs in the L6 store. But these IRs are in a proprietary file format which only works with L6 products. At least the ones I bought. Looper Zoom G6 allows to save your loops on SD card. With Pod Go you can’t save your loops. Play Mode - this is my personal killer feature Zoom G6 allows to select the play mode generally. So you can change presets always in stomp box mode for example. Perfect for live gigs. With Pod Go you have to select the preset and can then change into stomp box mode. Rhythm Machine Zoom G6 offers 68 onboard rhythm patterns. Suitable for pacticing your guitar parts at different speeds at home DAW Steinberg Cubase LE Software included. Suitable for DAW beginners. I think we still have to wait some weeks for the first tests and sound comparisons. Another question is the quality of customer service and software (editor, firmware, drivers). We will see and learn.
voxman55
See here: https://www.thefretboard.co.uk/discussion/201331/new-zoom-g6-v-pod-go#latest A word of caution re my observation: "subject to DSP limitations, the G6 allows up to 9 effects or 7 if an amp and cab is selected". Having had a Zoom G5 and a Zoom G5n (that also allowed up to 9 effects), if the G6 follows a similar Zoom approach all may not be what it seems. Why? OK, with Pod Go you have fixed blocks, including: EQ Amp Cab Volume Wah EQ And whilst not a 'block' a noisegate is an effect but is standard in Pod Go So, that's 7 effects. Now, on top of this you have up to (DSP permitting) 4 user slots (and I can get 4 slots on all my patches - there are always options to juggle DSP if you need) which is a possible 11 effects In the G5n, the above would have used up 8 slots (amp is 2 slots, cab 1 slot), leaving you just one extra slot - but if you chose the 7-band EQ, that used up 2 slots - so the G5n could look like this: EQ - 7 band graphic (2 slots) Amp (2 slots) Cab Volume Wah EQ Noisegate And some of the Zoom G5n FX take up 2 slots! Now 9 slots doesn't sound quite so good does it? If the G6 follows a similar approach, whilst it might give more choice for some (as it has no fixed blocks) it could be a backwards step for others. For example, I love that Volume & Wah expression pedals and a noisegate are available automatically on any patch! In G5n & G6 I'd have to manually programme these on and they would use up 3 of my 'up to 9' patches. I'm also unclear how easy it is to the switching between volume & wah in G6 - as it was fiddly & a real nuisance in the G5n. My honeymoon period on the Zoom G5n was very short lived as you can read here: https://www.thefretboard.co.uk/discussion/138564/

voxman55
The G6 has some interesting features, but I suspect the Pod Go will still likely be better sounding and easier to use.
