Jermestre
Hi everyone. I am looking for an active monitor to amplify my Pod Go with IR amp simulation. I'm not interested in FRFR cabs like Atomic, Powercab, tech21 and Headrush. I want a PA speaker. For price and portability (10 ") I am between these three options. I have read a lot about the Yamaha DXR series .. but I do not have enough budget. My main question is about the power and volume. I want the most powerful of the three. I tried the Headrush FRFR 108 and the presence and volume were not enough with my band. What option did you choose of the three mentioned speakers? Alternatives with a similar budget? Thank you! voxman55
Headrush and Alto are virtually identical but afaima Headrush do not currently offer a 10" variant. However, for band purposes the Headrush FRFR112 or the equivalent and virtually identical Alto TS312 are likely to be your best option for bottom end and overall volume. Both units are however close to double the size and weight of the Headrush FRFR108 or Alto TS308. Have you considered perhaps two of the 108 or 308s which will give you flexibility 're spread, more volume, and you'll have the option of perhaps using one outward facing with the other as a monitor cab? spaceatl
I have a pair of Alto TS212 and a TS315. They are not much different than v3. I have had them for several years and they are still working great. When I bought them I auditioned EV, Mackie, QSC and a few others. I came down to the EV and the Alto...Basically, they sound identical when the EV DSP is set to PA (flat). No DSP (DSP adds a couple of ms of latency), No fans, no fuss...I generally only use one TS212 for guitar and it has worked great for me. I have been using it since I was on an HD desktop...for bass I use a TS315.
