kebon29
Has anyone here having noise issues when the effects loops are switched on in their Helix? I've tried switching the global settings from instrument to line level with minimal results. Is there something I'm missing?
rd2rk
There's a small amount of noise in the FX Loops. If you're using external FX that add GAIN, they'll amplify that noise. Also, in 4cm, some amps' FX Loops add their own noise. Sometimes something like this can help: AmazonSmile: Compact Mini Hum Eliminator Box - 2 Channel Passive Ground Loop Isolator, Noise Filter, AC Buzz Destroyer, Hum Killer w/ 2 1/4-Inch TRS Input and Output for 2 Mono / 1 Stereo Signal - Pyle PHE300 : Musical Instruments AmazonSmile: Compact Mini Hum Eliminator Box - 2 Channel Passive Ground Loop Isolator, Noise Filter, AC Buzz Destroyer, Hum Killer w/ 1/4" TRS Phone, XLR Input/Output, Uses 1:1 Isolation Transformer - Pyle PHE400 : Musical Instruments
codamedia
To hear the actual noise the loop itself is generating... just put a jumper cable in the loop and turn the loop on/off. THAT is the noise produced by the loop. IME, there is a slight increase of "hiss" but not much. Any noise beyond that is being created by the items you have in the loop, or you may have introduced a ground loop. 15 hours ago, kebon29 said: I've tried switching the global settings from instrument to line level These are the general rules, but there are exceptions. Know your gear! INSTRUMENT level is best for "STOMP" effects.... LINE level is best for RACK effects.... An AMP Effects loop can be instrument or line... consult the manual The input of an AMP is instrument level
