i wonder if there is a way for them to add this to the amp out and to make it savable per preset ...what are your guys thoughts on these...   ?

ive been using it alot and it makes a difference after watching videos on how useful and helpful it can be....but i always keep powered monitors plugged in my main left n right and amp out to my pedal baby so im always switching back n forth and then obviously per preset would be awesome....atleast i think it would be lol...hopefully its possible to add these 2 features

The purpose of a global EQ is that it is, well, … global - meaning you don’t need to change it per preset. The idea is that you would use the Global EQ if you bring your POD Go to a new venue where you won’t be using your powered monitors. You can adjust the EQ once, for all presets, to suit the different  monitors.

You already have a preset EQ block and you can add another one or more as an FX block if you want. Also, in Global Settings you can arrange for the Amp Out jack to be tapped before the Cab/IR block, so you can place an EQ block after the Cab/IR to affect only the Main outputs.

yeah i already have a parametric between the amp n cab-ir....and a 10 band eq after the cab-ir....the global adds more control and makes it sound even better....and you can get rid of alot using the global and get a better tone i watched a youtube video on it....

You watched a video that is 2 days old (and are already posting about it), rather than the numerous posts and videos that have existed for the previous 7 years when L6 introduced GEQ in the HD series.

But, anyhow....

As previously mentioned, Global Equalizer is... GLOBAL. It is in the name. I have said numerous times (remember, it has been 7 years) that it was misnamed, and should be the Master Equalizer. It is similar to a Master Volume knob, in the sense that it controls the entire unit.

It is best used for 'room shaping'. Such as when going from room to room night after night - because they each have a different tonal response.

Personally, I don't use it. Let the sound man earn his keep.

And as far as this high/low filtering - many people use it that way (remember, it has been 7 years). But I have found that using it for Amp 1 requires a different GEQ than Amp 2. It can even be different if you use Amp 1 with Setting A or with Setting B.

So, to me, unless I am in "a band" and have "one tone" all night, I would need 40 different GEQ settings for 40 songs. Forty settings isn't 'global', that's something that should be found within each patch.

If you are at home using a guitar amp - you don't even need GEQ because your amp has tone knobs

If you are playing by yourself, you don't need it for filtering either - because you are the only guitarist, there is no 'mix' that you need to sit in.

well by watching that video and using the GEQ i was able to achieve a tone i couldnt get without it on my main preset i record with....so thats why im using it....or so it seems... when i turn it on and off i really notice a huge difference....the GEQ seems better or different compared to the parametric eq i have between my amp n cab blocks...im still learning as i go...experimenting...i dont think ya can have enuff eq's lol

  • 1 year later...

It's kinda weird it only applies to the main outs and not amp out.

My main outs go to FoH, they have a bazillion EQ's...

My amp out goes to....yup, my amp (headrush 108), which, you guessed it, doesn't have an EQ :-(

So, I have 2 options:

1) Adjust every preset I use to my amps EQ, and "reset" those changes in the Global EQ to FoH.

2) Use amp out to FoH (mono only), and use the main out(left) to my amp. This option I use currently.

PLEASE LINE 6: Make it so I can choose which outputs the Global-EQ affects
