Everything is kind of quiet low dBs

Hello everyone.

A bit new to Helix.  Just got my Helix LT today.    And want to check I've got it set up correctly.

I'm running out of the helix via usb into logic.  It hooked up with no issue but if I strum my guitar with a clean track no FXs, volume on my guitar is set to 8  guitar I only get about -30dbs of sound.  If I throw an amp into the helix signal chain... like a US deluxe Nrm... I only get about max -24dbs signal out of it.  Have I limited something or not set something up correctly.  The Amp is set to Ch Volume 8, Master 10 and Drive 5.

I thought I'd be getting a lot more Dbs... with those settings.

Thanks!

Generally speaking the USB output is intentionally low so you have plenty of headroom in your DAW to increase the volumes if necessary.  There is an option to increase the output level of the USB in global settings, but it's really easier to just manipulate them within the DAW to set them where they make sense in the mix.

The Helix USB connection provides 8 selectable channels for your DAW to record. Which channel are you selecting in the track being recorded? There is an option to record the dry signal, which by design is sent at a lower level than the wet signal.

I didn't see a USB OUT level in Global Settings.  I saw an "in" but no "out".

There is no USB out level in the Globals - only a Trim option for USB 1&2 in. From the main screen for your preset there is a Pan and Level available for all the output options, but if you're recording via USB simply select the Multi Out and have your DAW set to receive USB 1&2 on a Stereo Channel in your DAW. If you require a DI unprocessed audio channel set a mono input channel to receive USB 7 - you can use this to re-amp if you wish.

Hope this helps/makes sense.

Here ya go - Humour me and load this into Logic and arm the channels to record, then select your Helix LT as the Audio Interface in and out and on your Helix LT hardware set the final output to Multi. Connect your guitar to the LT and play.
