HX Effects Converters

I think of a round of conversion as being the full cycle - A/D and D/A, so I’d say you’d have three rounds of conversion in your example, but the way you stated it isn’t wrong. But, yes, if you had both loops active, the signal would be undergoing all the conversions you say. Each full round of conversion adds about 1.5ms of latency (latency would increase if you had digital pedals in the loops, of course).

Although correct... there isn't anything you can do about if you want to add additional effects in the loops.

If you are worried about latency and/or degradation of sound... there is a simple test you can do.

  1. Connect each loop with a "quality" short cable.
  2. Setup a preset in the HX Effects and place each loop on a separate footswitch, or put them both on the same switch.
  3. Start playing and toggle them on/off ... take note of any changes to feel & tone.
  4. IMO.... it is best to follow it up with a blind test. Have someone else toggle them on/off and take note of your response to each.... This keeps you from being influenced by knowing the position.
